POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Senior Manager, Partnerships & Grants, is responsible for the overall management of the Jordan Field Office’s funded program portfolio that features projects, programs, and activities addressing areas such as youth engagement, refugee education, women’s empowerment, economic inclusion, teacher training, education development, and institutional reform and capacity building. The incumbent is responsible for managing the design, delivery, and evaluation of the portfolio and for developing a strategy, in close coordination with the Amideast Jordan Country Director and senior leadership team, to expand technical program offerings and activities that align with client needs and requirements.

The Senior Manager, Partnerships & Grants, is also responsible for recruiting, training, and managing technical and administrative support staff responsible for handling program planning, implementation, and monitoring & evaluation tasks. Central to this area of responsibility is managing communications with donors and partners post-award, and ensuring that all technical and financial reports are submitted on time and in compliance with donor requirements and regulations.

In addition, the Senior Manager, Partnerships & Grants, is engaged in business development activities in close coordination with the Country Director. This area of responsibility includes conducting research on business opportunities and donor priorities, designing innovative solutions that address program requirements, drafting technical and cost proposals, and maintaining regular engagement with current and potential donors.

As a member of the senior staff at the Amideast/Jordan Field Office, the Senior Manager, Partnerships & Grants, reports to the Country Director. The incumbent coordinates program activities with other departments in Jordan as well as with relevant parties at AMIDEAST Headquarters and with the organization’s regional directors for English Language, for Workforce Development, and for Monitoring & Evaluation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Development:

  • Develop annual and quarterly business development plans and outreach strategies in coordination with the Country Director
  • Analyze market trends and develop outreach strategies
  • Research, examine and align Amideast programming with relevant national strategies of the Government of Jordan, country partnership strategies with international donors and partners such as the U.S. Dept. of State, the World Bank, USAID, DFID, and others
  • Develop proposals in response to RFPs and requests for customized programs aligned with Amideast’s technical focus areas and strengths
  • Develop concept papers, proposals, outlines, summaries, and other documents for submission to funding and implementing bodies in coordination with relevant HQ and regional staff
  • Build and sustain partnerships with organizations, ministries, companies, and individuals to advance Amideast’s business and development objectives in Jordan
  • Attend local or regional events representing Amideast aligned with Amideast’s programs in training and development to create new partnerships, network, identify potential funding partners and partners in new projects

Program Management:

  • Ensure that all donor-funded programs are scheduled, implemented, and evaluation on time
  • Ensure that all technical and administrative resources are in place for program implementation
  • Review and analyze financial and program performance of department
  • Prepare program reports for clients and for internal purposes, as required
  • Participate in annual budgeting process

Staff Management:

  • Recruit and supervise all program staff
  • Strengthen department capacity by planning needs-based professional development activities
  • Participate in general and senior staff meetings

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Required

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Management, Applied Linguistics, Educational Development, or a related field
  • A minimum of 7 years of professional work experience in business development, project management, and/or, program coordination
  • Demonstrated business development skills, including technical proposal development and writing, and associated budgeting
  • Native speaker proficiency in written and spoken English with exemplary communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current trends in academic readiness, workforce development, youth and women engagement, and STEM and green technologies for the MENA region
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a broad base of working relationships with clients and donor agencies
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, manage, coach, and develop staff
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and activities and to work under tight deadlines while maintaining high quality output
  • Strong organizational, supervisory, coordination, and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) as well as relevant platforms such as Prezi, PowerPoint, Keynote, or other professional presentation tools

Preferred

  • Arabic language proficiency
  • Work experience in the MENA region

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Regular local business travel may be required to support program management, reporting and business development processes as needed.
