JOB PURPOSE

The World Food Programme (WFP) is looking for an experienced Nutritionist to lead its Nutrition Programme in Cox's Bazar. This role will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of the nutrition programme, providing guidance and technical expertise to ensure effective and efficient implementation of direct and indirect nutrition interventions, managing a team of nutrition professionals, building partnerships with stakeholders, managing resources effectively and generating evidence to support programming, ensuring that the programme aligns with WFP's overall strategy and objectives. The role will report to the Deputy Head of Area Office (Cox’s Bazar) and technically to the Head of Nutrition Based Programmes.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  • Strategy development: Provide strategic direction and leadership for the nutrition programme in Cox's Bazar, including assessment and analysis, the choice of objectives, activities, transfer modalities and commodity choices aligning to WFP's corporate policies, strategies, and guidance, taking into account the local context, as well as the latest evidence and international best practices in the field of nutrition.
  • Programme Oversight: Oversee and provide technical guidance on WFP’s nutrition programme in Cox's Bazar, ensuring delivery of high-quality evidence-based nutrition specific and sensitive interventions in a timely and effective manner ensuring alignment with WFP's overall strategy and objectives. Monitor programme progress and make necessary adjustments to ensure that the programme is on track to meet its goals.
  • Team Management: Lead, manage and motivate the nutrition team in Cox's Bazar, providing guidance, support, coaching, learning and development opportunities as required to foster a positive and collaborative work environment, and enable high performance.External Partnerships and coordination: Build and maintain effective partnerships and represent WFP in key fora and platforms with key stakeholders, including UN agencies, the nutrition sector, Government agencies, and implementing partners to strengthen the nutrition Programme’s impact and sustainability.
  • Internal cross-functional partnerships: Collaborate with other WFP teams for a coordinated programmatic approach, ensuring that nutrition is appropriately integrated into WFP's overall response in Cox's Bazar.
  • Evidence Generation and knowledge management: Oversee the development and implementation of a robust monitoring and evaluation plan, including coordinating data gathering, analysis, monitoring, assessments, surveys, and generation of dashboards for nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive interventions ensuring that rigorous quality standards are maintained. Use generated evidence to inform programme design and make necessary adjustments to improve programme effectiveness.
  • Provide input into donor and corporate reporting on nutrition activities to enable informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
  • Resource Management: Ensure effective resource management, including development and maintenance of the Cox’s Bazar nutrition programme and procurement plans outlining the programme commodities, caseload and financial needs to ensure that resources are allocated and utilized appropriately.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Advanced University degree in Public Health Nutrition, Nutrition, Food Technology, Medicine or other closely relevant field.

Experience: At least 8 years of experience in nutrition programming, with at least 5 years of experience in managing teams.
• Experience working in multiple countries in both emergencies and development contexts.
• Strong technical expertise in nutrition, including experience in nutrition-sensitive programming and implementing nutrition programmes in emergency contexts.
• Proven experience in programme management, including resource management.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to motivate and manage teams to achieve results.
• Familiarity with WFP's corporate policies, strategies, and guidance.

Language: Fluency (level C) in English language.
