As a part of the Technology team, reporting into the Chief Technology Officer this role is responsible for overseeing the testing and quality assurance on digital across digital channels, products and applications. The role holder is also responsible for providing guidance and best practices to the team on manual and automated testing strategies for web and mobile applications. The role holder also leads a team of quality assurance professionals who contribute to the definition, development and implementation of quality assurance practices and procedures.

Job Details – Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Key responsibilities:

Testing and Quality Assurance

Lead exploratory testing efforts within an agile development environment.
Provide centralized end-to-end system and performance testing services for projects or packaged releases
Foster best practices in testing and bring latest thinking in QA/testing methodology and tools
Drive efficiency and effectiveness throughout the testing process
Ensure development of domain specific knowledge and overall testing tools, environments and methodologies e.g., end-to-end testing, performance testing, etc.
Ensure smooth handoffs for test planning, functional testing and E2E testing
Deliver applications that pass production readiness criteria

Processes and procedures

Understand the processes and mechanisms involved in running a global products.
Ensure an excellent and consistent customer experience through the evolution and testing of product features
Understand the end to end customer journey for the product and understand the required customer experience as communicated via design teams.
Select and use appropriate systems and processes in each territory to capture defect data.
Make proactive suggestions as to trends and opportunities within the company’s digital portfolio.
Communicate clearly through written and verbal channels with all technical, design and non-digital colleagues and customers both internal and external

Influencing and Stakeholder Management

Influence the testing strategy and methodology
Effectively act as a gate keeper to production environment to deliver projects on time
Collaborate with stakeholders to drive test-driven-development
Work with Infrastructure teams to ensure availability and functionality of the environment
Oversee interactions and ensure sufficient level of testing resources at each level of centralized testing

Human Capital Responsibilities

Ensure the implementation of the performance management process
Provide mentorship for the purpose of developing a continuous talent pipeline for key roles
Identify training needs and coordinate with the HC department to ensure facilitation of training requirements
Oversee the development and implementation of on the job-training
Ensure constant availability of the required competent staff to support the organization in meeting all its responsibilities, plans, and objectives

Personal Characteristics and Required Background:

Skillset (job specific technical skills and behavioral competencies needed)

Skills

Expert knowledge of automation testing web/app.
Expert knowledge of web/app-based testing and architecture
Strong skills and experience in current and emerging testing technologies including functional, end-to-end and performance testing
Ability to drive test automation and standardization
Test planning skills and develop test plans early in the development cycle
Effort estimation skills for testing requirements (including people and resources)
Ability to coordinate with Infrastructure to plan for and secure required environments
Expert knowledge of manual testing techniques for popular ecommerce platforms like Hybris, ATG or any other
Ability to maximize the productivity of teams working with Java, Selenium, Webdriver or any other Web testing automation tool
Ability to manage load testing and security testing processes
Leadership of agile teams, implementing agile best practices
Comfortable handling multiple projects simultaneously
Outstanding leadership skills, having an ability to move a cross-functional group in a unified direction and with a common vision
English (Full professional proficiency – Required)
Arabic is an advantage

Minimum Qualifications/education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software design, management information systems engineering or a related field and or relevant direct job experience
Master’s Degree in relevant field is preferred
