BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DIVISION:
WFP’s dedication to those it serves requires excellence in the competence, skills, and ethical conduct of its workforce. The Career Management Branch’s key objective is to build and assess the capabilities of WFP staff and to support leaders in being the best for their team, the organisation and WFP's beneficiaries. The promotion team is responsible for the promotion of international professional staff on rotational positions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direct supervision of the HR Officer, the candidate will perform the following duties:
- Assist with a broad range of processes related to promotion and career development;
- Contribute to and support the rollout of specific development initiatives and programmes in line with WFP’s new promotion system;
- Support the development of effective communication resources and tools with a view to ensure a high level of engagement for all HR and Career Management-related initiatives;
- Be part of the HR team that works closely with global WFP offices to support the effective implementation of relevant initiatives in the field, where WFP’s support is most needed;
- Contribute to data management and reporting initiatives;
- Provide support to other key HR initiatives managed by the Career Management Branch;
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality;
- Stay relevant and up to date with market practices and external networks to build recognized capability and credibility. Use this knowledge to identify areas for improvement, share insights with global teams, and build capability in this area.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate programme from a recognized university OR recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate programme preferably in Human Resources or related field (within six months prior to the application to the internship programme) from a recognized university;
- University course attendance in the past 12 months.
- Excellent command of English; working knowledge of a second UN language would be an asset (preferably French, Spanish or Arabic);
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).

- Demonstrated self-starter with drive and initiative;
- Proficiency in data analysis and data reporting;
- High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint;
- Good communication skills, both orally and writing;
- Aptitude in working with technology systems;

- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a multicultural environment.
WORKING LANGUAGES
Excellent written and spoken English is required (proficiency/level C).
SUPERVISION (Level/Methods of Supervision)
Under the direct supervision of the HR Officer, the incumbent will be provided with close mentoring, guidance and technical supervision. Performance planning and reviews as well as learning and development discussions will be part of the supervision. The Talent Management Specialist (Promotion Team-Lead) will be the second-level supervisor.
TRAINING COMPONENTS
Throughout their assignment WFP interns have access to an industry leading learning platform, weLearn. Depending on opportunities and availability of funds, he/she may participate in WFP workshops or seminars, as appropriate.
LEARNING ELEMENTS
At the end of the assignment, the Intern should:
- Have had hands-on experience on multiple aspects of promotion and career development;
- Have had exposure to process design and improvement;
- Have matured direct practice in customer service for WFP international professional staff employees to provide a positive experience on their careers.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
- Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$1000 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
- WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
- WFP will reimburse travel ticket for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
- WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education.
- Candidates who bear any of the following relations to WFP staff members are not eligible to apply: sons, daughters, brothers or sisters.
