JOB PURPOSE

The Partnerships Officer will work under the direct supervision of Regional Partnerships Officer/Head of Government Partnerships, Regional Bureau Bangkok (RBB), with functional inputs from RBB Private Sector Partnerships Officer and under the overall guidance of RBB Deputy Regional Director. Content and methodology of the supervision would include assignments of tasks, establishment of work plans, guidance and coaching on implementation of work, regular assessment of work and provision of feedback.

As a critical member of the RBB Partnerships Unit, the Partnerships Officer will support RBB Country Offices (COs) to maximize resources and to maintain and strengthen public and private partnerships in the region. Specifically, the Partnerships Officer will provide support and advice to the Country Offices ranging from forecast management to funding proposal writing and relationship building with current and future donors.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Proactively support a wide range of aspects of a partnerships portfolio, including partner profiling and data/trends analysis, to maximize resources and leverage policy and technical support for WFP’s work; Ensure partner visibility and that partner conditions are met.
  • Maintain an overview of forecasts and resource situation of the RBB region, in close collaboration with RBB Budget and Programming Unit.
  • Gather and share partner intelligence, using key information systems (e.g. WINGS, Salesforce, WFPGo, Grants 360), and asses results.
  • Support RBB COs on partnership strategies, including the development of Partnership Action Plans; Extend support on partnership/contribution management, in line with corporate norms, processes and legal agreements, on quality proposal and report writing by engaging with other WFP entities and external stakeholders.
  • Review the probability and reliability of forecasts inserted in Salesforce by the Country Offices, and comment in the RB review section as necessary.
  • Sensitize Country Offices on the use of corporate platforms such as Salesforce and the Factory.
  • Use socio-political insights to support WFP’s effective positioning vis-à-vis regional and international institutions with the aim to influence the policy agenda.
  • Support implementing the work plan for assigned area by delivering activities that maintain and develop private sector partnerships to raise funds and resources in support of WFP strategic proprieties.
  • Collect data and contribute to the preparation of proposals and sales presentations in order to effectively sell WFP to private sector prospects.
  • Maintain and update the RBB Partnerships Officers mailing list and the contacts list to ensure effective communication with the Country Offices.
  • Participate in monthly calls with the Country Offices and act as the coordinator for monthly calls with RBB Partnerships Officers hosted by RBB Partnerships.
  • Respond to queries from the Country Offices which includes the sharing of Country Offices’ documentation (MOU, contracts, funding proposals) from previous years, as well as obtaining other relevant grant information from the system.
  • Attend donor meetings and workshops as necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in economics, international affairs, business administration, social sciences, development studies or a field relevant to international development/humanitarian assistance. Master’s degree in relevant fields is desirable.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience in partnership roles.
  • Working experience in developing countries is desirable.

KNOWLEDGE& SKILLS

  • Ability to work in a team, and establish effective working relations with persons of different national and cultural backgrounds;
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in an environment with strict deadlines and changing operational priorities;
  • Flexibility in accepting work assignments outside normal desk description.
  • Good analytical skills;
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Excellent written and verbal communications.

LANGUAGE

  • Written and oral proficiency in English is required; knowledge of a second UN language is desirable.
