Our client is a fast-growing online platform for financing small and medium- businesses
Role Purpose:
The Credit Sanction Officer will manage all aspects of credit underwriting. Reporting to the CRO, the role is a key within Risk function
Amongst other risks, the Risk function is responsible for complete end-to-end credit risk management across all trading activities, and underwriting credit lines (on an unsecured basis) supporting business customers.
Our client plans to operate a single underwriting function with all underwriting (vetting) services supporting multi-product credit decisions. Therefore, the role holder will have exceptional underwriting experience across multiple product types including receivables finance, payables finance, invoice discounting, buy now pay later, and cards.
They intend to support over 100,000+ micro-enterprises and SMEs in Saudi Arabia and it is deploying technology (including scorecards) to help drive improved quality and speed of decision. Ultimately fully digital (online) onboarding and underwriting journey for micro and SME customers is a near-term ambition to provide scalable growth and a better customer experience.
The role holder will be a crucial member of the Risk Leadership Team (RLT), and are expected to lead by example, working collaboratively with RLT peers to deliver against Credit and strategic goals.
Responsibilities & Activities:
- Responsible for leading underwriting within the Risk function, managing new customer acquisition decisions as well as in-life changes (either upsell or cross-sell to another product or service)
- Accountable for delivering decisions within SLAs
- Responsible for managing all aspects of (application) credit risk, and credit fraud risk and mitigation, from identifying application fraud, setting policies through to continually improving policies and systems to mitigate against attacks. It is assumed the role holder will actively collaborate with the MLRO and the CRO

This role will suit a Credit professional with an entrepreneurial and commercial mindset, capable of rolling up their sleeves, driving change and building new capability within a rapidly growing fintech.

- Credit management, banking or accountancy experience and qualification
- Experience working within and managing a Credit Underwriting function within a B2B environment
- Experience within a regulated market would be ideal
Leadership credentials and a proven track record of building, leading and developing teams to achieve outstanding results within a Credit underwriting function.
