ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

These jobs are found in Regional Bureaux (RBs), Country Offices (COs), Area/Field Offices (AOs/FOs). The job holders typically report to a Programme Policy Officer or the designate.
At this level, job holders are responsible for the completion of a range of specialized and/or standardized processes and activities requiring some interpretation of standard guidelines and practices. Job holders are able to recommend a course of action to staff at various levels and may allocate tasks to other support staff. They work under minimum supervision, perform basic analyses and compile reports to support information consistency and smooth implementation of programmes/projects.

JOB PURPOSE

The incumbent is responsible for support in overseeing the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition (MCHN) project in the assigned district(s).

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  • Coordinate with local governments (Provincial and Municipal), Cooperating partner (CP), and other relevant entities for the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of WFP’s supported nutrition programme.
  • Provide consistent and high-quality technical support in all the phases of the project cycle and assist local government to build a strong community nutrition implementation package.
  • Support the management and coordination of the nutrition programme with the Government, CP and other stakeholders to strengthen alignment and to promote implementation of a coordinated/multi-sectoral responses including ensuring continuity of care for acute malnutrition.
  • Provide support in conducting training need assessments, as well as carry out orientations/training to government, health facility, community members, and Cooperating Partners (CPs) to contribute for local capacity strengthening efforts.
  • Coordinate and participate in capacity strengthening activities implementation at the health facility and community levels.
  • Assist CP to conduct community sensitizations and community-based interventions including Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) campaign, through development of training materials, conducting training, formative supervision and other capacity building activities.
  • Whenever necessary, actively participate in coordination forums directly related to WFP’s nutrition operations as pertaining to the project.
  • Contribute to setting up a robust monitoring and evaluation (M&E) plan, including minimum indicators for monitoring performance of WFP’s nutrition response.
  • In accordance with directions defined by WFP, local government and partners, support monitoring and evaluation activities of the project at various levels in the municipalities (household, health facility, community, and other social workers/volunteers) in coordination with local government and CP.
  • Maintain record of all the activities that take place in the province, as well as ensure a proper database is maintained on project progress, documenting lessons learned, best practices and evidence of success of nutrition activities.
  • Oversee preparation and dissemination of timely reports, including monitoring and evaluation and final reports.
  • Liaise with relevant local authorities at governorate level to ensure smooth implementation of all funded project activities.
  • As appropriate, act as a WFP point of contact in relevant coordination and stakeholders’ meetings at Provincial and Municipal levels.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Secondary School Completion and a Certificate in Nutrition, Public health or another related field.

Experience: At least four years of professional experience in Nutrition and/or public health programme.

Knowledge & Skills: Knowledge of working in programme environment.

Languages: Fluent in English and Portuguese

CONTRACTUAL INFORMATION

  • This is a 6-month renewable Service Contract
