JOB PURPOSE
Support the WFP Representative / Country Management in all issues related to implementation of the Country Strategic Plan by acting as an advocate and maintaining liaison with the relevant government ministries, departments, and officials:
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
Under the overall guidance and direct supervision of the Country Director and in cooperation with the Country Management, the Senior Advisor (Government partnership engagement) will be responsible for the following duties:
• Identify key stakeholders in the government, media, etc. for negotiations and rapid decision-making for CSP implementation.
• Support the WFP Representative & Country Management in all issues related to disaster management, emergency preparedness and response as per the joint action plan between MoDMR and WFP:
• Act as interlocutor with MoDMR in ensuring the allocation of land and relevant resources for establishing Humanitarian Staging Area (HSA) and relevant infrastructure.
• Act as liaison with MoDMR, other line ministries, government departments, and officials, in the implementation of the joint action plan on emergency preparedness and response.
• Advocate for and influence changes needed in the camps with the RRRC and CiCs to ensure smooth humanitarian response operations in Cox’s Bazaar.
• Regular travel to Cox’s Bazaar, Bhasan Char and other operational areas will be required.
• Coordinate inputs from other WFP entities that contribute to inter-governmental/inter-agency work to ensure that WFP positions are properly explained and considered in decision-making.
• Guide functional units in the country office on Government Partnership Engagement strategies
• Any other duties as required.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Master’s degree in social sciences, education, economics, political science, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 10 years of progressive professional experience serving in higher-level positions (preferably policy making positions) with the local government and/or other agencies. Experience working with donor funded projects and/or agencies.
LANGUAGE: Excellent written and oral/communications skills in both English and Bangla
OTHER SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience in formulating plans, policies, strategy and their implementation will be considered as added asset.
Working experience in Disaster Preparedness, Disaster risk reduction, resilience programmes and humanitarian responses would be an added value.
