Job Purpose

The MYP IS teacher is responsible for implementing and teaching the Middle school’s students according to the International Baccalaureate curriculum, being the learner, motivator and communicator who provides a professional expertise, and high quality teaching and learning.

The teacher provides, leads and facilitates diverse and effective learning experiences using a range of methods in a supportive and positive climate across the school. Delivering a coherent, balanced, integrated, inquiry-based program and preparing students for international programs in a stimulating, challenging and well-organized learning environment, collaborating with other teachers to contribute students’ success.

Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Planning, initiating, supporting and guiding the units which involve knowledge and understanding of the IB resources.
  2. Creating appropriate learning experience (field work, learning engagements)
  3. Creating challenging and engaging learning opportunities for all students.
  4. Motivating students to perform at their best through differentiated instructions and using varieties of styles.
  5. Contributing to the enrichment of learning engagements.
  6. Monitoring students’ performance to enhance their understanding and master skills.
  7. Monitoring students’ progress through effective assessment
  8. Communicating regularly and constructively with students
  9. Using teaching methods engaging students, stimulating intellectual curiosity including the use of effective questioning, presentation and resources.
  10. Setting high expectations for student’s behavior, establishing and maintaining a good standard of behavior management through well focused teaching and through positive and productive relationships.
  11. Collaborating with other teachers to contribute students’ success.
  12. Teaching related classes, per the full time teaching load specified by the MOE instructions
  13. Having the ability and willingness for online and/or in a hybrid context teaching and learning, as necessary
  14. Working independently and collaboratively to design and refine curriculum
  15. Designing, preparing and delivering a high quality curriculum for grades within the IB framework to suit the individual needs of all students
  16. Nurturing meaningful relationships with students and providing the individual attention they need
  17. Maintaining records of students' work and progress through Learning
  18. Working as a member of a team, positively contributing to effective working relations within the school
  19. Communicating, where necessary with parents and external bodies, following school policies
  20. Attending school events, workshops, student-Led conferences
  21. Attending IB authorized training and staying current with all relevant changes to the IB guide
  22. Taking on the responsibilities of a Year Coordinator or a Homeroom teacher upon request ( if applicable)
  23. Attending departments regular meetings
  24. Carrying out any other duties or responsibilities requested by the principal

Job requirements:

  1. Bachelor and/or Master degree in in history, geography, social sciences is preferable
  2. IB experience and training is a plus
  3. Diverse teaching strategies to suit both online and face-to-face environment,
  4. Personal project supervision.
  5. Participating in Interdisciplinary units.
  6. To be flexible and open to teaching any grade level (MYP1-MYP5) depending on the IS department needs.
  7. To implement co-teaching models if needed.
  8. Ability to innovate and design dynamic units for teaching IS.
  9. Designing authentic and skill and inquiry-based formative and summative assessments.
  10. Computer skills at a level that permits creative use of technology in the classroom
  11. Good communication & Presentation skills and ability to speak in public in confidence.
  12. Demonstrate professionalism, commitment, integrity, strength of character and perseverance
  13. Committed to ensuring high standards of teaching and learning
  14. Able to prepare reports, worksheets and deliver oral presentations
  15. Excellent planning, coordinating, organizing and analyzing abilities are essential
  16. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with teachers at all levels in a multicultural environment
  17. Strong communication skills in both Arabic and English.
  18. Demonstrates ongoing learning by continuously partaking in professional development opportunities.
  19. Good team spirit
  20. Ability to work under pressure & resilience
