Job Summary
The Information Technology Department (ITD) of the IMF is looking to fill a Project Manager position. The selected individual will be responsible for the planning and implementation of IT projects and works cross-functionally to ensure ITD is supporting project objectives and enabling business capabilities. They will work in close collaboration with the Project sponsors and other members of the project team to ensure successful implementation of both business process and technical workstreams. The Project Manager will maintain a strong understanding of the Fund and its departments and divisions and negotiate on technical and commercial issues with the business.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
1. In collaboration with the Project Sponsor, the Project Manager leads, motivates, develops, and manages the project team, and assists the Project Sponsor in building a high caliber team with the skills and capabilities needed to deliver project.
2. Acts as ITD’s advocate into the Business in the context of the IT project and advocates for the projects needs/interests within ITD.
3. Provides project management leadership for both the technical and business process workstreams. Adheres to PMI best practices for project management.
4. Leads the development of the business case, CBA, project charter, scope, PMP, integrated project plan and other project management documents.
5. Develops and baselines the project workplan and keeps it updated as the project evolves.
6. Issues weekly status reports, tracks completion of schedule activities, updates RAID logs, tracks hot topics and escalates issues as required.
7. Holds both technical, business and vendor project team members accountable for on‐time completion of tasks as part of regular progress meetings.
8. Conducts regular reviews with business Project sponsor to update on status and identify project/program needs, issues and/or changes.
9. Assists the Project Sponsor in establishing and ensuring appropriate governance functions in accordance with enterprise policies and practices.
10. Manages the costs, financials, and funding aspects of the transformation initiative.
11. Ensures that project is implemented on schedule and on budget and project goals are accomplished and in line with business objectives.
12. Collaborates with PMO on periodic status reporting and managing scope, cost, and schedule health.
Minimum Qualifications
- Educational development, typically acquired through the completion of an advanced university degree in business management, finance, data analysis, or a related field of study plus a minimum of four years of relevant professional experience; or a bachelor’s degree in a related field of study plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience, is required.
This vacancy shall be filled by a 3-year Term appointment in accordance with the Fund’s new employment rules that took effect on May 1, 2015.

- PMP or PgMP certification
- Experience working in project management, including scoping timelines/project plans, participating and or leading cross-functional teams, and owning deliverables
- Proven track record of success in project leadership positions
- Strong project management, organization and communication skills
- Ability to influence and negotiate with technical and business stakeholders
