Public Health Program Assistant(Research Assistant)

Position Summary:

CRDF Global is seeking a Public Health Program Assistant within the Global Health Mission Area for CDC global health projects. The Public Health Program Assistant will provide administrative and technical support to crucial public health projects implemented by CRDF Global at the local, regional, and global levels.

Organizational Overview

Currently, CRDF Global is directly engaged in projects that focus on disease surveillance and laboratory systems, healthcare-associated infections (HAI), infection prevention and control (IPC), enhancing prevention, detection, and containment of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), border health, and public health emergency management (PHEM), along with biosecurity and biosafety programs.

Major Responsibilities:

The Public Health Program Assistant will be directly engaged in supporting and managing daily program activities at administrative (60%), technical (35%), and other responsibility (5%) levels.

Administrative (60%):

  • Serve as the liaison for internal departments (finance, travel and logistics, procurement)
  • Coordinate and plan site visits, conferences, meetings, workshops, trainings, and other events
  • Track and report on event planning progress
  • Schedule and attend meetings (virtual and in-person)
  • Develop and validate call notes to be distributed internally and/or to customers
  • Develop documentation for and enter requisitions, develop statements of work for procurement, and other related activities
  • Review and process invoices
  • Oversee document and information management to ensure information is logically stored on SharePoint
  • Update and deconflict calendars

Technical (35%):

  • Assist with development of reports and correspondence to the customer
  • Update recurring internal reports according to guidance
  • Assist with program implementation and management
  • Assist with research-related activities, including summarizing scientific literature
  • Assist with the development of concept notes, fact sheets, and other presentation materials for internal use and/or customer use
  • Assist in Public Health program design, implementation, and M&E
  • Update monthly report and M&E tracker

Other (5%):

  • Support CRDF Global’s strategic initiatives, as needed
  • Support proposal development efforts, as needed
  • Travel locally and internationally, as needed. Expected travel: up to 25%
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Skills and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in any healthcare related field with 1+ years of relevant professional experience; or a Master’s degree in a healthcare related field. Equivalent training/experience may be substituted for advanced degrees.
  • Work experience with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) is a plus.
  • Experience working with programs supported by US CDC or other US Government agencies is a plus.
  • Work experience within infectious disease threats or disease surveillance activities is a plus.
  • Knowledge of statistical analyses and interpretations is a plus.
  • Ability to develop trust and leverage communication among all stakeholders and collaborators, including senior decision makers.
  • Awareness, sensitivity, and understanding of cross‐cultural issues.
  • Experience working as part of a team and independently.
  • Excellent and effective written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with a wide range of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds at all levels within their organizations.
  • Strong attention to details, multitasking, and negotiating skills.
  • Oral and written fluency in English and Arabic.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, with experience using computers for variety of tasks.
  • Legal authorization to work in Jordan.
