The Royal Health Awareness Society (RHAS) is a not-for-profit organization specializing in public health and aims to empower the Jordanian community to adopt a healthy lifestyle by raising health awareness and enhancing an environment conducive to safe and healthy behaviors implementation.
RHAS is seeking qualified candidates to fulfill the position of Community Mobilization Officer under the USAID-funded Community Health and Nutrition Project.
About the Community Health and Nutrition Project
The Community Health and Nutrition (CHN) Project aims to improve the nutritional status of pregnant and lactating women (PLW) and children under the age of two by achieving measurable improvements in six maternal, infant, and young child nutrition (MIYCN) and postpartum family planning (PPFP) behaviors. To enhance the uptake of these behaviors, the project will support the Ministry of Health (MOH) and other key stakeholders to address both supply and demand-related constraints to achieve the Community Health and Nutrition Project’s intermediate results (IRs):
- IR 1) Improved household and community-level knowledge, skills, and support for the adoption of optimal MIYCN-PPFP and healthy family dietary practices.
- IR 2) Improved health care provider support for optimal infant and young child feeding (IYCF), family diet, and PPFP practices.
- IR 3) Improved linkages between clinical services and community-based interventions for FP, IYCF, and maternal nutrition.
Moreover, the CHN Project is supporting the MOH to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic through the design and delivery of interim activities including Awareness Raising and Social Behavior Change Campaigns, and community mobilization and outreach activities to generate demand on COVID-19 vaccine and increase adoption of precautious measurement.
RHAS is responsible for delivering the behavior change and community mobilization activities within IR 1, and the SBC interim activities responding to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The Community Mobilization Officer will be responsible to support the implementation of the project’s community-outreach activities under IR1. These activities include but are not limited to community dialogue sessions and peer support groups activities and mid-media activities such as open days and public events. CHN relies on community-based organization, NGOs and community health committees to implement the projects outreach activities.
Community Mobilization Officer
The Community mobilizer will be responsible for the following tasks related to project’s community outreach activities.
- Support (organize, facilitate, and conduct) any capacity-building activities and workshops provision for community-based organizations, groups, facilitators, and Community Health Committees (CHCs).
- Assist in the design/adaptation of training and communication materials utilized in the community-based and mid-media activities as needed
- Develop implementation plans, templates, and forms of the community-based and mid-media activities in cooperation with the implementing partners
- Follow up on the implementation, track the progress, identify challenges, and provide assistance as needed
- Review the technical reports related to the community-based activities and use results to enhance the activities design and implementation
- Develop documentation templates and forms and ensure archiving following the project documentation system
- Conduct field visits to provide the needed technical support and monitor the delivery of the community-based and mid-media activities
- Organize and conduct coordination and follow-up meetings with the project assigned CHCs
- Support the administration of community activities including logistics and procurement
- Support the development of testimonials and success stories highlighting the impact of activities and Interventions on targeted groups and end beneficiaries.
- Develop and manage relationships with project stakeholders and partners in the targeted communities and support the effective implementation of project activities on the ground.
- Performing other duties of similar nature or level. As requested by the direct supervisor or the project senior management.
Minimum qualifications and experience requirements:
- BA degree in public health, nutrition, or any related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in community mobilizations and outreach programs.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the field of public health, postpartum family planning, and maternal, infant, and young child nutrition.
- Strong management skills and the ability to work effectively with local stakeholders
- Proactive, result oriented.
- Excellent command of Arabic and English languages
- Excellent ability to use MS Office programs.
- Willing to travel inside the country
