PURPOSE, SCOPE AND IMPACT
Contributes to the delivery of services to Restore as well as Maintain Family Links (RFL) between separated family members within the geographical remit of Jordan Delegation, with a particular focus on the needs of persons having family members gone missing as a consequence of the Syria crisis.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Missing Delegate and in close coordination with the Data Manager (DM), and as part of a team of approx. 10 persons, contribute to the case management of the Tracing cases (TC) and Allegations of Arrest (AoAs) caseload related to the Syria crisis with the overall objective of accompanying the families of the missing persons (FoMs) while fostering regular, meaningful, and trusted relationships with them. This include:
- Participating in the recontact activity to update the enquirers on ICRCs action(s) linked to their requests/feedback received from authorities and other stakeholders; collecting additional information regarding the sought person and steps taken by the family in the search process, and identify specific needs that the families may express for referral to relevant departments within ICRC / or external service providers;
- Conducting home-visits to the families also in view of collecting or sharing additional information, developing proximity and acceptance;
- Contributing to the institutional efforts aiming at supporting families in their search using existing internal and external data and taking part in the management and analysis of the data.
Under the supervision of the Missing Delegate, contribute to the implementation of the Delegation multidisciplinary accompaniment programme in favor of FoMs. This includes:
- Planning and facilitating group sessions / information sessions organized with/for the families according to identified needs.
- Conducting family situation assessment in view of assessing the needs of families, and defining, jointly with them how some of those needs might be addressed through direct support or through means of referrals.
- Ensuring regular follow-up on FoMs through home visits or telephone interactions;
- Mapping and identifying services providers and other relevant stakeholders in the area of implementation and establishing a supportive network with them in favor of the FoMs.
Other Tasks
- Participating in the collection of Syria-related TC and AoA.
- Occasionally, and upon request, contributing to the implementation of all requested RFL activities not related to the Syria Missing file.
GENERAL DUTIES
- Be aware of the delegation’s objectives and activities
- Understand the three components of the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement
- Apply the security rules at all times
- Respect and observe the staff regulations of the ICRC in Jordan.
- The employee may be asked to perform other duties not covered in this job description as well as to provide support to other departments when and if necessary.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERINCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED
- Degree in related field.
- 3 – 5 years’ work experience in a similar field.
- Excellent command in spoken and written English and Arabic.
- Excellent writing, editing and analytical skills and attentive to details.
- Demonstrated ability to work in proximity to affected people and communities and to show empathy.
- Proven interpersonal skills and a strong commitment to a collaborative approach in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team.
- Strongly motivated by humanitarian work and commitment to the ICRC’s mandate and principles.
- Very good computer skills.
- Good knowledge of geographically assigned environment.
- Valid Driving License.
