BACKGROUND
The UN Booking Hub is a UN Global Shared Service fostering inter-agency collaboration in field services provision. It is the largest UN marketplace with 1.6 million humanitarian customers served to date to access flights, mobility, accommodation, clinics and wellness services from 20 UN partnering entities in 1,340 field service points in 106 countries.
In particular, with 4,600 UN vehicles and 3,700 drivers, the UN Mobility service of the UN Booking Hub allows humanitarian staff to book drivers, local administrators to manage vehicles, drivers to deliver their passenger transportation more efficiently and UN entities to offer inter-agency carpooling services.
To support significant carpooling start-ups in pilot countries, MSDD is setting up a Carpooling Roving Task Force with the aim of augmenting WFP country operations capacity to set up, start and lead carpooling operations at the country level through engagement with the relevant OMT and its partnering UN Agencies. Participants in the Carpooling Roving Task Force will be trained by MSDD on the use of the UN Mobility service for them to reside for 2-3 months in selected country operations and promote, set up, launch and scale up inter-agency carpooling services.
PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
As Carpooling Task Force Support Officer, you will be reporting directly to the Carpooling Task Force Coordinator and the WFP Global Mobility Manager and will be working in service to the WFP Country Management Services officer with the following duties:
- Support the setup of a roving Carpooling Taskforce that will be on missions promoting, supporting, and operationalizing passenger mobility and carpooling year-round across global selected operations
- Augment capacity building of WFP Country Offices to operationalize the UN Mobility service of the UN Booking Hub, driving digital transformation in the field through passenger mobility and carpooling services
- Engage with country UN Agencies with fleet and with no or limited fleet to promote the benefits of country-wide inter-agency carpooling services with demos, executive reporting and strategic presentations to key stakeholders.
- Engage OMTs in carpooling implementation by presenting the service to key stakeholders, setting up localized carpooling cost recoveries, signing off carpooling service agreements, and successfully launching the service
- Communicate, demo and train field WFP and UN colleagues and country OMTs in the use of the UN Mobility service and its carpooling functionalities
- Negotiate UN Agencies' signatures on the UN Mobility Service Agreement and Carpooling ones.
- Monitor carpooling performance and KPIs and scale up best practices across operations!
- Create up-to-date reporting on carpooling efficiency gains, including environmental ones, and service optimization

Deliverables at the end of the contract:
Each contract will include TORs and specific deliverables, as well as the number of days dedicated to the mission.

- WFP and UN colleagues and country OMTs are sensitized in the use of the UN Mobility service and its carpooling functionalities
- OMTs is engaged in carpooling implementation by presenting the service to key stakeholders, setting up localized carpooling cost recoveries, signing off carpooling service agreements, and successfully launching the service
- reporting on carpooling efficiency gains, including environmental ones, and service optimization are created
As this position will be remotely based, in order to be eligible for this position, the candidate must have consistent and reliable internet connection from their remote location.
