Contract Duration:
The Programme Policy Officer (School Meals) will be contracted for an initial term of 12 months. Contract may be extended based on business need and satisfactory performance.

Job Purpose
To provide support to policy and programme activities of the School Based programme projects that effectively contribute to food security, education, and social safety nets in Lebanon

Key Responsibilities (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):

The incumbent will work under the close support and guidance of the Head of the School-Based programme Unit, within the Programmes Unit of the Country Office. Within delegated authority the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:

• Contribute towards the development of the School-based programme modalities plans and processes, ensuring alignment with the WFP School meals policies and guidance.
• Provide project management support to the programme activities, including the development and testing of innovative approaches to enhance the school meals modalities for Lebanon;
• Support the strengthening of the School-based programme complementary initiatives, including the implementation of the school meals Nutrition Education component with MEHE and the Nutrition and Health Summer camps’ programme and others;
• Follow data gathering and monitoring systems, including standard programme monitoring indicators, process indicators, and food distribution indicators in WFP corporate databases, ensuring that rigorous quality standards are maintained.
• Collaborate with internal counterparts in procurement, supply chain, finance, other programme units, and other divisions to ensure effective design, alignment, and delivery of WFP school meals programme;
• Contribute to the preparation and dissemination of timely operational and analytical reports, including proposals for improvements in operation and the scope of programmes, and relevant information for internal and external use;
• Support the identification, development, and management of potential partnerships to collaborative working, leveraging school meals as a platform for complementary activities to improve children's outcomes.
• Support the development of functional training in areas of expertise to enhance the capacity of WFP staff, implementing partners, and relevant Government counterparts to design and deliver effective school meals programmes;
• Supervise relevant programme staff and provide training and technical guidance in their work;
• Perform other related duties as required.

Required Knowledge and Skills:
• Experience in implementing the technical programme with several stakeholders
• Experience carrying out analytical work and providing inputs into designing operations
• Experience working with technical experts and integrated inputs from multiple internal and external stakeholders
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills and ability to work in multicultural settings involving a large number of stakeholders
• Ability to work independently, produce high-quality outputs, and meet deliverables with minimal supervision
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and proven ability to work in a collaborative setting and/or partnership-building and managing
• Good knowledge of the area of operation in Lebanon is preferred.
• Computer literacy: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet. Experience in other program management software is considered an asset.

Standard Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Advanced university degree (i.e. Master's degree or higher) in one of the following disciplines: International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences or, or another related field or first university degree (i.e. Bachelor’s degree) with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.

Experience: One (1) or more years of postgraduate professional experience (after completion of Advanced University degree) in the fields of education, public health, nutrition, social sciences, or related fields. Experience with International Organizations/UN agencies is a plus. Or, three (3) years or more after completion of First University degree.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in Arabic and English. Fluency in another UN language is a plus.
