Shelter Technical Coordinator -Nationals Only

NRC has been implementing projects in the shelter, energy and WASH sectors supporting vulnerable Syrian refugees and Jordanians in reducing their utility costs, raise awareness on energy efficiency (EE), resource efficiency, improving efficiency and access to renewable energy (RE) in public buildings specifically public schools, rehabilitating shelters, improving access to infrastructure, developing innovative pilots and advocating nationally and internationally on renewable energy and energy efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Generic Roles and Responsibilities

The following is a brief description of the role.

Generic responsibilities

  • Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
  • Contribute with CC specific technical competence to the development of CC strategy, Micro LogFrame, and Plan of Action
  • Contribute with CC specific technical competence to programme development, adjustment or review
  • Conduct CC specific technical assessment and present recommendations
  • Conduct CC specific technical research and document findings and recommendations
  • Provide CC specific technical input to coordination mechanism (e.g. cluster coordination) and working groups
  • Develop CC specific technical guidance, tools and mechanism
  • Contribute to organizational learning through the provision specific technical analysis, lessons learned and reports
  • Develop training modules and provide specific technical learning or/and training for project staff
  • Provide training to relevant stakeholders

Specific responsibilities

  • Develops capacity building initiatives to enhance the knowledge and professional development of NRC staff in areas of RE/EE and environmental approaches.
  • Provides technical analysis and proposes RE/EE and environmental initiatives for all CCs program development. This includes sharing technical knowledge, developing technical guidelines and best practices, adapting S.O.Ps, drafting technical notes and creating tools to enhance the quality of the projects.
  • Supports on proposal writing and donor reporting to provide inputs related to RE/EE, shelter, WASH, energy, climate, environment and innovation.
  • Maps local and international stakeholders and organizations working in the RE/EE and environment-related fields to enhance NRC programming, identify and develop related partnerships.
  • Represents NRC to, and develops strategic relationships with RE/EE and environmental government and coordination bodies; including, but not limited to, the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, JREEEF, relevant local municipality authorities, and the Energy Task Force.
  • Contributes to positioning NRC as a leading authority and influence in supporting and developing RE/EE and climate-related policies and strategies that affect refugees and vulnerable Jordanians.
  • Works closely with the Shelter Core Competency and global teams, inputting on strategy review processes and feeds in the Quarterly team and review processes.

By interfaces, NRC means processes and projects that are interlinked with other departments/units or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position are:

  • Core Competency Specialists
  • Communications staff
  • M&E department
  • Relevant core competency implementation staff
  • Global shelter and Greening the Orange staff.
  • National and International relevant stakeholders related to energy and environment

QUALIFICATIONS

Generic professional competencies for this position:

  • Work experience with renewable energy in a development context.
  • An intrinsic motivation to contribute to providing solutions and raising awareness of environmental issues
  • Previous experience from working in complex and dynamic contexts.
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English, both written and verbal.

Context/specific skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Qualification requirement: Master’s degree or equivalent
  • Years of Experience: 3+
  • Proven experience in the design and implementation of interventions in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector
  • Proven experience working on the Syrian refugee response in Jordan
  • Proven technical experience in renewable energy systems design, implementation, maintenance and monitoring in Jordan
  • Proven experience in engagement in the renewable energy sector (private, public and/or INGOs) in Jordan
  • Proven experience working in renewable energy or environmentally focused projects in Jordan and/or Middle East
  • Professional writing skills for reporting, studies elaboration and publication and data analysis
  • Experience of working/collaborating with local authorities, municipalities
  • Knowledge of climate change challenges and innovative projects developed globally
