Purpose/objective of the position:
The “Social Worker” is expected to support INTERSOS Mission in Jordan on a broad range of tasks, including but not limited to raise the awareness on INTERSOS services among the targeted community, capacity building/training on GBV-sensitive behavior and methodologies, and community-based activities to initiate changes in GBV. The social worker also identifies and assess vulnerable beneficiaries, and referring to the case management team in order to meet their urgent needs, guarantee access to available services and attain the highest level of independence and sustainability possible.
Generic Duties:
- Create and adapt in collaboration with senior social workers, other Social Workers, and community mobilizers, materials for Gender-sensitive and GBV awareness sessions.
- Conduct and support senior social workers, other Social Workers, and community mobilizers in organizing according to the work plan awareness activities and other more significant events or celebrations.
- Conduct and support senior social workers, other Social Workers, and community mobilizers in organizing according to work plan gender, sex, and power discussion (GSPDs).
- Contribute and report to identify main protection issues or concerns within the targeted communities to the senior social workers, field managers, and protection coordinator.
- Support senior social workers and community mobilizers in the selection and establishment of the Community Based Protection Committees (CBPCs).
- Support the field manager and case management teams with the Community Based Protection Committees (CBPCs) in gathering information and receiving referrals.
- Provide the guide to the Community-Based Protection Committees (CBPCs) on the initiatives that will be conducted later.
- Assist the senior social worker and the field manager in the preparation of regular progress narrative reports;
- Support the case management team in the distribution of cash and any in-kind assistance (NFIs, Assistive devices, etc.), and follow up those directly supported by INTERSOS.
- Identify extremely vulnerable Syrian and Jordanian households in need of referrals both internally and to external service providers;
- Accomplish any other assignments given by supervisors or Protection Specialist/Protection Coordinator.
Other Responsibilities:
- Uphold the INTERSOS Code of Conduct and policies;
- Ensure the respect of the core humanitarian principles: neutrality, impartiality, independence and humanity and the respect of the “do no harm” principle of humanitarian action.
- Strictly follow the internal procedures, policies (PSEA, CPP etc.) and guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Minimum requirements
- University degree or Diploma in Social Science, Community Development, humanitarian actions or any related field /or equivalent practical field experience, preferably with a humanitarian organization;
- Ideally at least 2 years of experience in protection related sectors, including at least 1 year of experience in emergency projects;
- Previous Experience with NGOs will be an asset;
- Extensive field experience and an in–depth knowledge of refugees’ context;
Other requirements:
- Native Arabic -Good written and spoken English
- Strong team spirit, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment
- Excellent analytical skills, observation and analysis capacity, and reporting skills.
- Very strong interpersonal skills: strong communication and diplomatic skills
- Practical and problem-solver
- Ability to deal with heavy work pressure
- Excellent time management skills and resourcefulness with attention to details.
