BASIC FUNCTION:
- Directly supervises the activities of a fire team or truck crew, under general direction of the Shift Commander. In charge of the First Response team, ensuring readiness to respond to all emergency calls, and to routine work and inspections. assigned to the ERT training and development program leader / coordinator as assigned by CERPM and to lead OJT as well as Trainee Fire Inspectors.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
- Under the direct Supervision of CERPM, ensures that personnel and equipment are in a state of operational readiness at all times during the assigned tour of duty, and that tests, inspections and maintenance of equipment are performed as required by the schedules
- Acts as plant fire team and ERT Commander in the absence of the designated officer. This duty involves utilizing human resources to accomplish assignments in a safe and efficient manner and supervising personnel during emergency and non-emergency work periods, according to the job performance requirements.
- Conduct or take part in the training and drill program, developed by CHSE , direct ERT members during a training evolution, given a unit training evolution and training policies and procedures, so that the evolution is performed safely, efficiently, and as directed to maintain and improve the standards of efficiency in Group.
- Assists in establishing and maintaining the training and inspection schedules formulated by the CERPM and or 3rd party and approved by CHSSE-GM.
- Evaluate available information, given a fire incident, observations, and interviews of first‑arriving members and other individuals involved in the incident, so that a preliminary cause of the fire is determined, reports are completed, and, if required, the scene is secured and all pertinent information is turned over to an investigator
- Prioritize and plan for the completion of each assignment developed (Training, Drills ets..) and assign specific tasks and supervise teams during the completion of the assignments.
- Assign tasks or responsibilities to ERT members, given an assignment under non-emergency conditions at Plants or other work location, so that the instructions are complete, clear, and concise; safety considerations team level are addressed and implemented; and the desired outcomes are conveyed
- Recommend action for Problems related to ERT operation
- Can be assigned to the Fire Prevention Duties & as a Fire Inspectors to thoroughly learn all parts of this discipline.
- Initiate action to track the plants concern, so that the concern is answered or referred to the appropriate individual/section/ Dept. for action and all policies and procedures are complied with.
- Carries out other duties and assignments as required.
- Implement a new departmental policy at the unit level, given a new departmental policy, so that the policy is communicated to and understood by unit members
- Execute routine unit‑level administrative functions, given forms and record management systems, so that the reports and logs are complete and files are maintained in accordance with policies and procedures
- Subject to respond when recalled during off-working hours in accordance with Departmental Internal Policy and Procedure
المهارات
- Knowledge of fire ground tactics, smoke venting, fixed extinguishing units, ladder trucks, fire command procedures, fire pre-planning procedures, forcible entry methods, detailed knowledge of pumper units and rescue devices.
- Must hold professional qualifications as fire fighter, which may be acquired through the in-house or extended training programs.
- The ability to condense instructions for frequently assigned unit tasks based upon training and standard operating procedures. Verbal communications during emergency or non-emergency situations, techniques used to make assignments under stressful situations, methods of confirming understanding.
- Verbal communication techniques to facilitate learning and the ability to distribute issue‑guided directions to unit members during training evolutions.
- The ability to recognize signs and symptoms of member‑related problems, causes of stress in emergency services personnel, adverse effects of stress on the performance of emergency service personnel, and the ability to recommend a course of action for a member in need of assistance in accordance with applied Employee Relation policies and procedures.
- The ability to determine basic cause and growth of fire and the ability to conduct interviews and write reports and policies and procedures for calling for investigators
- The ability to write reports, to communicate verbally, to evaluate skills and determine the elements of a pre-incident plan, basic building construction, basic fire protection systems and features, basic water supply, basic fuel loading, and fire growth and development.
- The ability to analyze emergency scene conditions, to allocate resources, and to communicate verbally and determine the elements of a size‑up, standard operating procedures for emergency operations, and fire behavior
- The ability to implement an incident management system, and to supervise and account for assigned personnel under emergency conditions in accordance with policies and procedures, and determine resources available, basic fire control and emergency operation procedures, an incident management system, and a personnel accountability system.
- Working knowledge of the N.F.P.A. Codes and standards or equivalent standards is preferred. If assigned to the Fire Prevention Section, must learn these Codes and Standards, and local standards.
- The ability to identify safety hazards by determining the most common causes of personal injury and accident to the member, safety policies and procedures, basic workplace safety.
- Must be Computer literate and be able to produce Computer Expert Certificate knowledgeable in; [CME] Typing II, System Intermediate to Office Automation- MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Project, Publisher, Outlook and Web Site MS Front Page [Intermediate], MS Internet Tool and E-Mail.

Must be Medically and Physically validated, in accordance with NFPA 1582, by a Program Physician, and physically fit meeting the medical requirement to withstand the rigors of fire fighting.
- Ability to read, speak and write English is required. Speak, read and write Arabic is an additional advantage.
