Job Summary
The Finance Officer Position is a full-time position based in Jordan. The Officer should oversee the organization’s financial transactions, develop budgets, prepare financial reports, and monitor all transactions. The duties will include supporting executives, preparing balance sheets, and processing invoices.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Managing accounting and budgetary functions and ensuring the conformity with the reporting requirements and the compliance standards;
- Processing project payments within the approved control system and budget;
- Monitoring actual expenditures against approved donor line items and reporting on a monthly basis to the project manager;
- In coordination with the Finance Director, alerting the management on any potential irregularities and making recommendations;
- In coordination and support of the Finance Director; facilitating audit exercise, participating in preparation of management responses and ensuring timely submission, monitor implementation of audit recommendations;
- Establishing, maintaining and keeping financial records;
- Providing regular and consolidated updates on implementation and budget status to the Finance Director and Project Manager;
- Managing and following-up the spending of the petty cash;
- Prepares payroll payments, including calculating withholding, recording and payment of income taxes and social security in compliance with the Jordanian applicable laws; Assisting in developing quarterly financial plans;
- Any other tasks that may be assigned by the Country Manager and/or Finance Director.
Qualifications
- BSc degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics;
- Proven work experience as a Senior Accountant/Finance Officer or similar role;
- Solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures;
- Experience using financial software and advanced MS Excel skills;
- Knowledge of financial regulations;
- Knowledge of Jordanian applicable Social Security and Tax laws
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills;
- Sharp time management skills;
- Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data;
Skills and Abilities
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational skills
- Good interpersonal skills, able to deal diplomatically and flexibly with a range of different people
- Very good written and verbal communication skills in both English and Arabic.
