Communications Coordinator

BACKGROUND

The Jordan Economic Reform Activity Task Order 1 (ERA TO1) is a 5-year, $54 million program funded by USAID, which aims to support the Government of Jordan (GOJ) to prioritize and implement economic reforms. Through coordination with the GOJ, the Jordanian and international private sector, other donors, and Jordanian civil society, ERA TO 1 will (1) advance economic reforms, (2) strengthen the business enabling environment, (3) increase exports and local, regional, and international investments, and (4) respond to emerging priorities.

Position Description

The Communications Coordinator will help to develop, implement, and monitor communications activities to promote project benefits, challenges, and successes. 

Key Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of the project communications strategy and action plans.
  • Develop engaging and effective communication and media materials for internal and external dissemination, such as newsletters, success stories, fact sheets, etc. This may include content for social and traditional media channels such as press releases, social media posts, etc.
  • Draft and edit written content for internal reporting and reporting to USAID.
  • Conduct media monitoring of local news outlets to capture important news and facts relevant to, or which may impact, the project or partners.
  • Support media efforts, including drafting press releases, coordinating media attendance at events, etc.
  • Assist and coordinate with relevant subcontractors and beneficiaries to produce professional photographs and videos and maintain a database of project audiovisual materials.
  • Assist in organizing events, workshops, and webinars and develop related marketing materials.
  • Draft requests for quotations/proposals and scopes of work for communication activities.
  • Support communications-related technical work as required.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and adapt social media campaigns and strategies to reach desired outcomes.
  • Ensure collaboration and coordination, sharing of information, needs, and progress across all functions and components of ERA to implement as one team including but limited to GESI, MEL, Communications, and all component team leads.
  • Contribute to and/or lead as assigned pitch decks, brief reports, and analysis for stakeholders,
  • Contribute to and/or lead as assigned periodic planning documents, progress, and impact reports for USAID and other partners
  • Operate with integrity and assurance of confidentiality, commitment to excellence, compliance with all USAID rules and regulations, contractual requirements, and Chemonics policies, systems, and value.
  • Monitor social media trends and identify new tools and innovate practices to maintain an effective and relevant with social media approach (if required).
  • Ensure project compliance with USAID communications and branding requirements.  
  • Other duties as assigned by senior leadership.

Reporting

The communications Coordinator will report to the Communications Director or equivalent.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as communications, marketing, public relations or other relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in communications and social media marketing.
  • Strong command of Arabic and English languages and ability to edit and translate proficiently.
  • Experience with management of online and social media communication.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with culturally diverse staff.   

LOCATION OF ASSIGNMENT   

The Communications Coordinator will be based in the project’s office in Amman, Jordan.
