Finance Officer
Finance Officer
JOB PURPOSE:
The Finance Officer position has been created to take care of the finance & accounting department
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES
Financial Statements and reports
- Assist the Finance Manager in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
- Assist the Finance Manager in preparing yearend financial statements to present to the external auditors
- Assist the Finance Manager in Facilitating the job of external and internal auditors
Bookkeeping
- Control expenses, issue payments and prepare all payment and journal vouchers
- Assist the Sr. Accountant in auditing the expenses and the supporting documents for all financial transactions and assure adherence with the financial policies and procedures
- Prepare a filling system for all financial supporting documents according to the internal policies and procedures in addition to donors’ requirements
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
- Assist the Sr. Accountant in managing all accounts receivable and payable
- Assist the Sr. Accountant in reconciling accounts receivable and payable
- Assist the Sr. Accountant in preparing monthly individuals’ income tax and social security correspondence
Budgeting
- Assist the Finance Manager & Sr. Accountant controlling and monitor budget line items on a monthly basis
- Assist the Finance Manager & Sr. Accountant in oversee actual monthly quarterly assessments and forecasts of financial performance against budget
- Assist the Sr. Accountant in maintaining a fixed assets register and create a tool to link existing assets to register
- Perform a yearend count of fixed assets, investigate discrepancies and update register accordingly
- Design all purchases are approved and within budget
- Confirm accounting treatments with respects to complex transactions, and specifically addresses any other regulatory reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance of accounting book and reports with IAS and IFRS
- Support the fundraising department through working on the budgeting of the proposal, and later on the financial reporting, and liquidation, auditing etc.. as per agreement with donors
KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE
Required Professional Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience of working in a finance department or in Programme administration preferably with local NGO/ INGO
Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification
BA degree in finance, accounting, business, management, administration, or a related field
Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build collaborative relationships

- Ability to transmit information correctly with accountability and maintain confidentiality
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet targets and deadlines
- Creative with coming up with new ideas & solutions
- Experience and ability to work in a busy office environment that often demands high levels of concentration
- Excellent computer skills, excel, word, power point.
- Knowledge of Accounting Systems “ALFA System is a plus
- Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement
- 20% field work
- 80% office based
- Due to the nature of operations
Language Requirements
Excellent Arabic and English skills
