Job Summary
DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a seasoned Senior Technical Program Manager to join our Retail and Retail Operations Improvement Tech Expansion Team. With this role, you will have the opportunity to innovate and grow while leading cross-functional teams in delivering premium online shopping experience to Amazon Customers in MENA. You will be driving technical programs for optimizing world-class operations, removing inefficiencies and reducing Amazon's operational cost at scale.
Key job responsibilities
The Ideal candidate will possess a strong program management background, will have demonstrated experience leading medium to large projects, and will have a well-rounded technical background in web services technologies focused on networking and service availability/security. You will need to understand and dive deep into details with a strong web application development experience, and an ability to understand customer applications. This is a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift quickly. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done. As a TPM, you will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. An ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, are essential to success in this role.
Basic Qualifications
- Proficient knowledge of Project/Program Management principles and processes.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to tailor communications to various levels of management, to technical and non-technical audiences, and cross team customers/stakeholders.
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills, successful track record of coordinating between multiple project stakeholders, technical program managers, and software development teams.
- Experience in creating and managing complex, cross-team project plans; prior success in driving execution of large-scale project plans with multiple cross-functional teams in support of business goals.
- Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies.
- Knowledge of service-oriented architecture, object oriented development, build processes, change control management and release models.
- 7+ years of experience working directly with engineering teams.
- 5+ years of technical program management experience at scale.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MBA, or related field.
- Experience contributing to technical discussions around decisions and technical strategy to shape long term program vision.
- Experience with e-commerce systems is a plus.
- Demonstrated track record of cultivating strong working relationships and driving collaboration across multiple technical and business teams.
