ELECTRICAL & OXYGEN WELDER – MARINE
Job Description
Should have good knowledge of using oxygen welding or oxygen welding and should be familiar with the use of equipment like oxygen cylinder, acetylene cylinder, hose line, gas torch, filler metal, flux, safety valves (non-return valve/non-return valve or check valve ) etc.
Welds metal parts using gas equipment as specified in the layout, schematic or work order.
Places parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor, or joins parts together along layout marks.
Selects torch, torch tip, filler rod and flux according to table specification or metal thickness type.
Connects control valves and hoses to oxy-fuel cylinders and torch. Turns control valves to activate gas flow, ignites burner and adjusts gas mixture pressure to achieve desired flame based on knowledge of gas techniques.
Holds the torch at the correct angle to the metal hydrogens along the weld joint, applying the filler rod to the molten area to form the weld
Examines a weld for a different specification bead .
Repairs broken or cracked metal objects, fills holes and creates metal parts.
Reads, interprets and adheres to detailed work instructions, drawings, processes and established procedures for welding parts to quality standards and customer specifications.
Regularly inspect work-in-progress and finished parts for defective welds according to work instructions and procedures. Ensure quality standards are met to achieve zero defects.
Keeps the workplace safe by following safety rules, practicing safe work habits, maintaining a clean and organized work area, using appropriate safety equipment, and reporting unsafe conditions to a supervisor
Must be able to transfer parts from cart to assembly table, check project file and inventory parts, assemble parts by hand using grips and clamps, operate welding torch and weld parts to assemble enclosures and advanced product requiring installation and wiring that requires testing, etc.
