Beirut – IT Solutions Developer NOA

Contract Duration:
The IT Solutions Developer will be contracted for an initial term of 12 months. Contract may be extended based on business need and satisfactory performance.

WFP supports as well Lebanese schools with school meals and also supports vulnerable households in protecting and improving their livelihoods through trainings and rehabilitation of local infrastructures. WFP also supports Lebanon’s National Poverty Targeting Programme, and Lebanon’s Emergency Crisis and COVID-19 Response Social Safety Net Project (ESSN)

Job Purpose
The incumbent will be part of the Digital Service Team that is part of the IT (TEC) team. The solutions developer role is developing and maintain the solutions according to Country office needs, while maintaining proper documentation for all solutions. The solutions developer will act as the business analyst for the Country office ensuring business problems, IT solutions correlate, and the key tenets to Freedom in framework are in place. The solutions developer is core member of the IT Unit – digital service stream that ensures business process are supported and driven by IT solutions.

Key Responsibilities (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):

The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:

• Design and support the development and implementation of modern integrated IT solutions supporting WFP business needs.
• Assist with to produce clear system specification requirements from business problems.
• Prepare clear technical systems documentation for developed IT solutions in order to facilitate IT systems development and maintenance.
• Perform unit and integrated testing of new, enhanced or fixed code in order to ensure complete coverage of code and adherence to technical specifications.
• Participate in the installation, configuration and customization of IT systems, as well as integration and migration of data between systems to ensure compliance with WFP’s IT standards, guidelines and procedures.
• Participate in the release of corporate IT systems and provide early life support in order to prepare for and enable proper use of the IT solution.
• Contribute to the analysis, maintenance and upgrade of IT systems and troubleshoot, fix problems and make recommendations for system improvements.
• Contribute to the preparation of trainings on existing and new functionalities for capacity building.
• Collate data and contribute to the preparation of accurate reports on IT investments and costs, providing information to inform decision-making by stakeholders.
• Ensure adherence to freedom in framework and WFP IT Solutions development policies and procedures.
• Support integration of systems, internally or externally to support WFP business processes either through design, documentation or development.
• Coordinate between business units and product owners to ensure that digital tools evolve to meet ever changing business needs.

Desired Knowledge and Skills:
• Has assisted in the design and development of systems and applications needed to fulfil business requirements.
• Has utilized specialized knowledge to resolve issues arising during IT support.
• Has contributed to IT projects by providing analysis of business requirements.

Standard Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Advanced University degree (i.e. Master's degree or higher) Computer Science, engineering or other relevant field or First University degree in a relevant field (i.e. Bachelor’s degree) with additional years of related work experience or training/courses.

Experience: One (1) or more years of postgraduate professional experience (after completion of Advanced University degree) in software development, or, three (3) years or more after completion of First University degree.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in Arabic and English. Fluency in another UN language is a plus.
