Job Objectives:

  • Supervising direct communication with the private sector in order to learn about the latest developments in the logistic and export sector in the emirate and to provide them with the necessary support.
  • Supervising the formation of unions for the sectors targeted in the logistics and export strategy, and holding periodic meetings with them.
  • Cooperating and providing support to the promotion team in terms of nominating qualified exporting companies and inviting them to participate in the exporters' development programs and international promotion programs and vice versa in terms of educating exporters about the available promotional and development programs.
  • Supervising the encouragement of local exporting companies to transfer their export operations from other emirates to Abu Dhabi "Hello Abu Dhabi exporters".
  • Supervising coordination with semi-governmental companies in supporting exporters from small and medium companies by linking them with them in major international projects.
  • Field supervision of coordination with governmental partners and the private sector with regard to facilitating the export environment, solving challenges and concluding cooperation agreements at the local and international levels
  • Supervising coordination with the strategy team to lead the process of implementing and developing the six main focus sectors and following up with key role holders from the public and private sectors.
  • Government cooperation and coordination at the local and federal levels to include the services of the various agencies concerned with trade facilitation and export support under the Advanced Trade Logistics Platform (ATLP) to support the Single Window Project.
  • Supervising and managing the work of the logistics committee/committees at the emirate level in terms of proposing topics, preparing agendas, and coordinating and following up with members from governmental and semi-governmental agencies.
  • Supervising the work of the studies required by the committees in coordination with the strategy team, the policies and legislation team, the exports team and the committee's feedback on recommendations.
  • Supervising the submission of reports and recommendations to management and senior leadership
  • Participation in local and international exhibitions
  • Promote the brand (Made in UAE) in international forums
  • Coordination with UAE embassies abroad regarding support for the emirate's promotional programs
  • Organizing the commercial missions and representing the Emirate in it.
  • Organizing reverse trade missions to host international buyers in Abu Dhabi
  • Representing the emirate in governmental and commercial delegations locally and internationally, and participating in specialized economic committees.
  • Coordination in organizing international trade missions with international market experts
  • Managing and coordinating the logistical aspect of the Ba'ath administration abroad in coordination with the concerned authorities.

Basic duties and responsibilities

Administrative Role:

  • Adopt the recommendations and contribute to the preparation of the operational plan and the estimated budget for activities and ensure their alignment with the department's operational plan and approval by the concerned authorities in the department.
  • Supervising the implementation of the management's operational plan, monitoring expenditure disbursement, periodic follow-up of performance indicators, and reviewing completion rates.
  • Providing the necessary technical information and guidance to the employees to enable them to carry out their work in the required manner.
  • Participating with the Human Resources Department in selecting and hiring department employees and directing new employees to work in the department.
  • Making decisions regarding the status of employees in the administration (transfer, promotion, salary increase, salary deduction, dismissal from the job…) after consulting with the Human Resources Department regarding the regulations, procedures and powers in this regard.
  • Evaluate the annual performance of employees, motivate them, see their needs, and develop the administration's performance in line with the mechanisms in place in the department.
  • Proposing training programs for employees, whether inside or outside the department.
  • Holding periodic meetings with the administration's staff and informing them of the developments in the general direction of the senior management and the government in general.
  • Receiving the reports prepared by the supervisors/heads of departments in the department and preparing reports on the department's activities in accordance with the reporting system approved in the department and submitting them on time and according to the direct manager's request.
  • Ensure that the department’s work procedures are in line with the Excellence Awards criteria, and follow up on improvement opportunities for all feedback reports and risk registers.
  • Monitoring the achievement of the approved standards through inspection and periodic reports, and taking appropriate decisions to avoid or compensate for the error or omission.

Organizational Role:

  • Maintaining and protecting the confidentiality of information and the assets of the department
  • Ensuring that all employees in the department adhere to and understand the systems, policies, procedures and work methods approved in the department.
  • Delegating responsibilities and powers to subordinates and ensuring the implementation of the plans and programs established by their commitment to the approved procedures
  • Develop detailed plans and programs for the work that he personally carries out, and for those works carried out by the employees, to ensure that the work is carried out at the highest level of efficiency and productivity.
  • Coordination between the department's activities to achieve the main objectives, as well as coordination with other departments and sections in the department
  • Organizing and coordinating the distribution of work to subordinates in a way that ensures that they work with high productivity

  • Recommending a review of the strategic directions of the logistics sector based on taking into consideration the gaps and obstacles related to enabling logistics services in the process of preparation and implementation and/or economic changes.
  • Supervising the preparation, review and approval of standards for measuring stakeholder satisfaction with the reports received
  • Adopting planning procedures according to the quality system followed
  • Supervising and making recommendations on studying best practices in the field of enabling logistics services in the logistics sector globally and regionally and comparing them with the practices applied in the logistics sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, for the purpose of development and keeping pace
  • Performing any other tasks assigned by the Executive Director of the Logistics and Trade Facilitation Sector

Preferred Academic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics or equivalent
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Economics or equivalent preferred

Practical Experiences:

• Work experience of not less than 9 years in a field, at least four years of which are in a supervisory position.
