Vice President – Motor Underwriting | Orient

Key responsibilities:

Motivate, train and develop the assigned staff in order to optimize their performance and ensure achievement of the specific objectives in an efficient manner with a high degree of professionalism.
Responsible for performance and talent management.
– Contributes to underwriting strategy relating to performance metrics.

– Adjusts underwriting strategy, as necessary.

– Operates within the established underwriting governance policies.

– Leads initiatives that have a high impact on the development of technical underwriting guidelines, and Best Practices, including controls and procedures.

Leads automation and digitalization.
– Provides technical assistance to Business Units Leaders and Underwriters and supports business development.
– Provides input to the development of business plans and contributes to the pricing strategies.
– Portfolio Management Responsibly, including analysis to monitor profitability and growth of business.
– Provides recommendations that requires change or remedial action.
– Monitors Technical Price accuracy and develops and implements solutions to enhance Technical Price.
– Drives continuous enhancements of pricing tools

– Participates in Technical Underwriting Reviews, identifies trends, and contributes to the development of actionable plans.

– Participates in compliance-related queries, including UAE regulator inquiries.

To ensure timely and accurate preparation of policy documents and customer TAT are maintained at all times.

Business Accountabilities

• Identify opportunities and risks associated with changes in the external environment.

• Develop and implement annual budget for area of responsibility

• Recommends changes to policies, systems, products/ services to leaders

• Ensure that appropriate documentation, implementation and communication of established policy, procedures and operating standards is completed for area of responsibility.

• Regularly monitors and evaluates activities to identify potential risks and issues of non-compliance.

• Participates and provides risk assessment for the area of responsibility and escalates potential issues to higher management.

Preferred:

ACII
Holding university degree and other general insurance qualifications
Must have 10 years of work experience, at least 4 years of which is in a Senior Managerial position handling Motor Insurance preferably Underwriting both individual and fleet.
Advanced knowledge of line of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines
Ability to multi-task
Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills, Arabic will be added advantage
People management experience
