CONTEXT

Médecins Sans Frontières is a private, non-profit international humanitarian organization dedicated to providing medical assistance to populations in crisis, without discrimination and regardless of race, religion, creed or political affiliation. Médecins Sans Frontières is running a reconstructive surgery program in Amman and is seeking a Female Peer Counselor to work with burns female patients.

MSF Peer Counselling Program

Peer counselling at MSF is an important and effective components of mental health care program, filling in the many gaps peer support is a valuable contribution to help our war wounded burns patients through the recovery process. And since the common factor among patients is their lack of acceptance of their injuries, peer counselling (individual & group sessions) is an effective intervention to support patients.

Peer counselling program at MSF is created to empower the patients to overcome the stigma and social isolation that reinforce cognitive and social challenges associated with mental health difficulties, it also can promote self-esteem and confidence, in addition to providing an environment in which patients can discuss their struggles and emotional stresses with others who display empathy and acceptance.

The key to Peer Counselling is that the source of the support is a peer- someone with lived experience of disability. The relationship is one of equality between the patient and the peer. The peer counsellor can offer support by the fact that they understand and have lived the same or similar experiences as the patients they are supporting. The person supported gains empowerment by seeing someone who is on a recovery pathway or has recovered and adapted to their disability or experience.

The sharing nature of the reciprocal peer support relationship increases feelings of acceptance and being understood.

The Peer Counsellor must be a person with disability, highly motivated to help and support others, able to listen attentively, who has the ability to share his / her experience with others, is a practitioner of independent living.

Main Purpose of The Position

Perform basic counseling and/or educational activities to patients, families, communities, following MSF protocols and procedures, in order to improve the health condition of the patient, based on sharing their previous experiences and advise and solving problems with the patients as they have the same medical condition and life conditions.

Accountabilities:

• Carry out, individually or in group, basic counseling and/or educational sessions, to patients, their families, hospital staff and/or the community
• Identify patients’ needs and in agreement with the psychologist make the link with the social worker when necessary referring to other specialists or external actors in order to provide the best available support in collaboration with other MH staff and social worker
• Collect and report specific information related to the target group
• Keep files and statistics updated about the counseling and/or educational activities
• Give testimonies to patients and in the community on own experiences as a patient.

Profile

• Desirable – degree in social work or related field.
• Desirable working experience in related jobs
• Is part of the target group of patients and is willing to share her own experiences as a patient.
• Experience in similar role in humanitarian assistance with war victims or other trauma and/or victims of violence is desirable.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, Multicultural flexibility or experience, good team spirit

WORK LOCATION: Al Mowasah Hospital, North Marka, Amman, Jordan

CONTRACT: 6 months contract – part time on 50% activity rate.

Probable start date: November 2022

تعتبر إرشاد الأقران في منظمة أطباء بلا حدود مكونًا مهمًا وفعال في برنامج الرعاية الصحية النفسية المرضى قيد العلاج المرضى، حيث يعمل على سد الفجوات العديدة لدى المرضى، ويعد دعم الأقران مساهمة قيمة لمساعدة جرحى الحرب المصابين بحروق خلال عملية التعافي، علماً ان البرنامج مبني على أن العامل المشترك بين المرضى هو عدم قبولهم لإصاباتهم، فإن استشارة دعم الأقران (الجلسات الفردية والجماعية) هي تدخل فعال لدعم هؤلاء المرضى.

تم إنشاء برنامج استشارات دعم الأقران في منظمة أطباء بلا حدود لتمكين المرضى من التغلب على وصمة العار والعزلة الاجتماعية التي تعزز التحديات المعرفية والاجتماعية المرتبطة بصعوبات الصحة العقلية، كما يمكن أن تعزز الثقة بالنفس، بالإضافة إلى توفير بيئة يمكن للمرضى فيها مناقشة نضالاتهم وضغوطهم العاطفية مع الآخرين الذين يظهرون التعاطف والقبول.

مفتاح برنامج استشارات دعم الأقران هو أن المصدر الداعم للمرضى هو شخص لديه خبرة معيشية في الإعاقة. العلاقة هي علاقة مساواة بين المريض ومستشاره. يمكن أن يقدم المستشار النظير الدعم من خلال حقيقة أنهم يفهمون وعاشوا نفس التجارب أو تجارب مماثلة للمرضى الذين يدعمونهم. ويكتسب المريض الثقة بالنفس، التمكين والدعم من خلال التعامل مع مستشاره والذي إما ان يكون على طريق التعافي أو تعافى وتكيف مع إعاقته أو خبرته.

كما ان الطبيعة التشاركية لعلاقة دعم الأقران المتبادلة تزيد من مشاعر القبول والفهم.

يجب أن يكون المستشار النظير شخصًا من ذوي الإعاقة، ولديه دوافع عالية لمساعدة ودعم الآخرين، وقادرًا على الاستماع بانتباه ، ولديه القدرة على مشاركة تجربته / تجربتها مع الآخرين ، وهو ممارس للعيش المستقل.

الهدف الرئيسي من الوظيفة:

إجراء الاستشارات الأساسية و / أو الأنشطة التعليمية للمرضى والأسر والمجتمعات، باتباع بروتوكولات وإجراءات منظمة أطباء بلا حدود ، من أجل تحسين الحالة الصحية للمريض ، بناءً على مشاركة خبراتهم السابقة وتقديم المشورة وحل المشكلات مع المرضى كما لديهم نفس الحالة الطبية وظروف الحياة.

المسؤوليات الأساسية للوظيفة:

• تنفيذ جلسات دعم نفسي للمرضى بشكل فردي او جماعي، بالإضافة الى الجلسات التثقيفية الأساسيةـ للمرضى وعائلاتهم، والموظفين وأو المجتمع.
• تحديد وتعريف احتياجات المرضى، بالاتفاق مع الأخصائي النفسي والتنسيق مع العامل الاجتماعي إذا استدعت الحاجة لغايات التحويل الى أفضل الجهات الخارجية المقدمة للخدمة المطلوبة، بالتعاون والتنسيق مع موظفي قسم الدعم النفسي والعامل الاجتماعي.
• جمع المعلومات وتقديم التقارير المحددة والمطلوبة للفئات المستهدفة
• العمل على تحديث الملفات والإحصائيات والمتعلقة بالاستشارات النفسية والأنشطة التعليمية محدثه بشكل دائم.
• تقديم النصح والإرشاد للمرضى والمجتمع بناء على تجاربهم الشخصية كمرضى سابقين تعرضوا لنفس الإصابة.

متطلبات الوظيفة:

• أن تكون المتقدمة حاصلة على درجة جامعية في العمل الاجتماعي أو أي مجال ذي صلة.

• أن تتوفر لدى المتقدمة خبره عملية في المجال الوظيفي المطلوب.

• أن تكون المتقدمة قادره على ان تندمج مع المجموعة المستهدفة من المرضى بالإضافة على استعدادها لمشاركة تجاربها الخاصة كمريضه.

• أن تتوفر لديها الخبرة في دور مماثل في المساعدة الإنسانية مع ضحايا الحرب أو الصدمات الأخرى و / أو ضحايا العنف أمر مرغوب فيه.

• التواصل الجيد ومهارات التعامل مع الآخرين، المرونة أو الخبرة متعددة الثقافات، روح الفريق الجيدة

موقع العمل: مستشفى المواساة، ماركا الشمالية، عمان، الأردن.

حالة العقد: عقد محدد المدة لمدة (6) أشهر – وظيفة بدوام جزئي (50% معدل النشاط).
