Psychosocial Worker – Azraq Camp

Action Against Hunger is an international non-governmental organization working in more than 40 countries in the fields of nutrition, food security and livelihoods, water sanitation and hygiene, and care practices. ACF is looking for its program in Jordan for Psychosocial Worker

Work place: Azraq Camp and other Action Against Hunger offices in the country – Jordan

Overview: To Organize and conduct direct MHPSS Group and Individual activities linked to an integrated MHPSS (Mental Health, Psychosocial Support and Protection) and WaSH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) program in Araq camp and other ACF locations and execute other related tasks in Jordan required by the program.

Responsibilities:

1) To implement awareness-raising sessions on mental health and psychosocial support

Provide direct awareness-raising sessions based on a guidebook, focused on mental health and psychosocial issues such as stigma, traumatic event, depression, anxiety, stress, grief, family issues, etc. in line with ACF guidelines and procedures
Evaluate the beneficiaries’ knowledge before and after the sessions.
Favour exchange and participation among the beneficiaries.
Identify and support local partners (CBOs) in delivering awareness and psychoeducation activities and facilitate their access to beneficiaries
Contribute to MHPSS campaign through volunteers, by training and supporting them, and developing mass media tools (such as radio).

2) Implement MHPSS and WaSH integrated curriculum

Lead implementation of life social and emotional skill (LSE) and Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) integrated curriculum in Araq Camp and other locations directed by program manager
Cascade Life social and emotional skill and Menstrual hygiene management integration curriculum training to other internal and external staffs and volunteers as directed by program manager
Contribute through provision of information and input to an improvement of the LSE – MHM integrated curriculum
Record challenges, and learnings and share to program manager to ensure quality of implementation

3) To contribute to all planned activities related to MHPSS and others

Conduct counselling and group sessions for identified people in need if needed
Participate to Action Against Hunger psychosocial workers training and supervision on WHO approaches and Action Against Hunger methodologies conducted by the MHPSS programme manager and the technical expert.
Contribute to identification and mapping of PHCCs, CBOs, other actors and potential partners in the area with the aim to build their capacities or coordinate with them
Support actively the referral system model of the project
Support on delivery of group intervention to beneficiaries meeting specific criteria
Contribute to needs and gaps assessments
Participate to local and national workshops organized by the programme manager, involving partners, community members, etc.
Contribute to monitoring and evaluation by collecting data in the field
Understand and follow the logistics, financial and security procedures enabling the project implementation
Participate actively and regularly to technical supervision conducted by the DPM or the HoD

4) To guarantee and ensure the strict respect of confidentiality

Ensure data confidentiality, ownership of project beneficiaries and Action Against Hunger
Guarantee the confidentiality of individual or group counselling

5) Ensure adherence to Action Against Hunger gender requirements

Commit and comply with ACF gender, age and diversity principles & policies (working with people, communication)
Support the implementation and the promotion of gender, age and diversity principles through daily activities and or through the management of the team (managing performance & development)

المهارات

Skills and experience in providing support to people in need
Knowledge or experience on the organizations of mental health services in public heath settings
Knowledge of MHPSS tools
Training skills
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
High capacity of work, able to overcome stress and work under pressure, with high degree of flexibility
Autonomous, organized, mature, self-motivated
Knowledge of local cultures and barriers (Syrian/Jordanian)
Data collection knowledge
Sense of confidentiality

Education:

University degree in Psychology or social studies from an accredited and nationally recognized University.

Professional experience requested:

At least 2 years of relevant professional experience and 1 field experience with humanitarian NGO
Experience working in developing and urban contexts
Experience working on the Syrian crisis, Middle East, (desired)

Language level:

Fluent in Arabic. English language is an asset
