Sybase Administrator
Job Description
- Install, configure, upgrade, and manage SAP Sybase ASE 15.x and 16.x.
- Experience supporting SAP Sybase ASE in a Unix/Linux environment.
- Experience writing and troubleshooting shell scripts.
- Experience performing cross platform migrations.
- Knowledge of HA and cluster architecture.
- Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation, including weekends and holidays , as part of a global leveraged team.
- Experience supporting SAP Sybase Replication Server and SAP IQ a plus.
- Experience supporting other RDBMS a plus (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2).
- Perform periodic database maintenance, monitoring and performance tuning.
- Proficient in backup & restore methodologies.
- Proactively plan data growth trends.
- Proactively perform Health Checks of database environment.
- Develop and participate in disaster recovery exercises.
- Develop and maintain database documentation and knowledge based articles.
- Develop database strategies that align to the customer's needs and goals.
- Support business initiatives and external customers.
- Strong communication skills.
- Represent database administration team in operations as well as project activities.
- ITIL Foundation or related training (a plus).
