Consultant: Youth Mentor in Local Governance
Amman, Jordan / Programs – Middle East and North Africa / Consultant – Local Search for Common Ground (Search)- Jordan intends to appoint 5 trainers/consultants for a project titled
Jusoor (“Bridges”): Building Bridges between Local Authorities with Youth and Communities
. This project's prime goal strengthening youth-centered participatory approaches to local governance in Jordan. The project aims to: 1- Equip local authorities and youth with the skills and competencies to effectively, constructively, and inclusively engage target communities in local governance. 2- Enable local authorities and youth to leverage participatory approaches and strategic communication to address local communities’ governance demands.
When the mentor is conducting face-to-face sessions, he/she will be expected to work in the assigned implementation governorates. Jordan North region vacancy implementing governorates:
Irbid.
Jordan Center region vacancy implementing governorates:
Amman
,
Madaba,
and
Zarqa
. Jordan South region vacancy implementing governorates:
Tafileh
.
The Youth Mentor role is about supporting the youth during the project period through online and face-to-face meetings. The support is distributed through the project's main activities as follows:
-Provide guidance to the youth during the implementation of the initiatives. -Follow up with the youth on the progress of the initiatives. -Provide guidance to the youth on how to document the progress of the implementation of the initiative.
Youth Junior Councils:
-Participate in the youth junior councils kick-off meeting. -Discuss the council's ToR with the youth, to maintain a good understanding of the roles and responsibilities and the value of the opportunity. -Provide guidance for the youth about work ethics, time management, and any other relevant skills. -Regular follow-up with the youth on the visits to the job shadowing councils’ locations. -Provide guidance to youth on tasks requested from them. -Provide guidance to youth to develop and submit the requested reports to Search and Al-Thoria teams. -Provide guidance to the youth on developing and submitting timesheets/and needed requirements to Search and Al-Thoria.
Media Campaigns:
-Follow up with the youth on the preparation of the campaigns. -Follow up with the youth on the implementation of the media campaigns.
Skills and Development:
-Provide guidance to the youth on official communication skills and emails. -Provide guidance to the youth on job skills (ex: interview skills and CV writing). -Provide guidance to the youth on reporting what he/she's roles or responsibilities are.
Experience:
-Previous experience in providing coaching sessions to the youth in different contexts. -Have experience with local governance, local administration law, and the roles and responsibilities of the local councils in different governorates. -Strong communication skills, and coaching for group sessions facilitation. -Experience in using online tools as a coaching platform. -Demonstrated reporting skills and ability to capture results. -Good understanding of safeguarding and youth inclusion principles, and ability to showcase youth as positive examples in local communities. -Ability to use participatory approaches and learning between the youth themselves.
