JOB PURPOSE:

  • Provides technical support in all matters related to Metallurgy that impact the integrity of equipment in order to ensure that facilities are safe to use for design life and at optimum cost.
  • Experienced in mineralogical studies based on mineralogically different chromite-bearing, iron-bearing and Nickel ore types at the mine undertaken, with focus on above mentioned minerals.
  • Sand dunes and usage of sand products in mafacutring of glass
  • Provides solutions for various issues related to the use of metallic materials in production plant and equipment including “Material Selection, Reviewing Materials Submissions, Plant Failure Investigations, Repairs Procedures and Writing Material Specifications.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Job Specific Accountabilities

  • Review and advise on equipment material selection and corrosion mechanisms for existing ADNOC fields
  • Review material requirements designed by external consultants, and ensures compliance of selected materials with ADNOC standards and practices.
  • Prepare and review consultant scope of work for Corrosion Study & Material selection and well completion metallurgy for new fields.
  • Technical Bid evaluation of consultants proposal to undertake Corrosion study/ Material selection studies.
  • Evaluation of Technical submission for Material/Equipment Procurement.
  • Review technical submissions by suppliers (In liaison with CMM) to evaluate and ensure compliance of proposed materials with technical specifications.
  • Participates in incidents/accidents investigations, task forces , near miss reports etc. and recommends remedial measures to avoid re-occurrence.
  • Undertake Failure investigation (Metallurgical & Corrosion) of in-service failures of plant equipment and, make recommendations based on findings and provide relevant technical report including advice on fit for purpose materials.
  • Liaise with plant operations/site integrity & maintenance/ Engineering & Projects teams for collecting inspection history and data for the investigation. Visiting facilities and fabrication yard to select samples for laboratory testing and analysis.
  • Prepare scope of work for laboratory testing and analysis. Managing and supervising laboratory works (materials testing and investigation) performed by local independent testing laboratories.
  • Prepare recommendations based on laboratory analysis findings and in-house investigations and issue them through memo and/or lesson learnt.
  • Review and advise on Corrosion testing for materials procured for maintenance work and new equipment. Review corrosion testing procedure, and witness corrosion testing and verify laboratory evaluation.
  • Contribute to development of company specification in engineering related to materials.
  • Periodic review and update company’s Materials Specifications & Standards, based on field experience /lesson learnt or as part of optimization.
  • Screens “Internal, Regional and Global” networks for identification and implementation of best practices & proven Welding technologies.
  • Follows up related technical advancements and trends in Oil & Gas industry, to ensure that Company’s Materials Engineering Standards reflect the latest proven technology, and update/upgrade as necessary.
  • Contribute to the development of Emirati engineers in Facilities Integrity Engineering.
  • Ensures compliance with HSE-MS for execution of all assigned tasks.

  • Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
  • Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective business objectives.

Budgets

  • Provide input for preparation of the Function / Division / Department / Section budgets, assist in the implementation of the approved Budget, and work plans to deliver business objectives.
  • Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.

  • Implement approved Function/ Division/ Department/ Section policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the work programs in line with Company and International standards.

Performance Management

  • Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Function/ Division / Department/ Section in line with the Company Performance framework.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

  • Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
  • Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with best industry standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.

Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability

  • Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures, controls, applicable legislation, and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices.

Reports

  • Provide inputs to prepare MIS and progress reports for Company Management.

COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal

  • Report daily to Integrity Specialized Services Team Leader, and update critical issues
  • Routine contact with plant operations site-integrity/maintenance/ engineering to discuss and provide technical expertise in Metallurgical aspects.

External

  • Frequent visits to laboratory and meeting laboratory personnel, Consultants , vendors related to materials failure investigation and material selections services required as per Company’s Policy.
  • Occasional contacts with other OPCO’s to co-ordinate and exchange technical expertise on materials.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualification

  • A degree from a recognized university in Metallurgical engineering or Material science.

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills

  • A minimum of 8 years of working experience required.
  • Experience in material selection, materials testing, Metallurgical/Corrosion failure analysis, metallography, on-site metallographic examination, heat treatment, welding & Inspection.
  • Conversant with international codes and specifications followed for materials/corrosion testing.
  • Ability to resolve materials and fabrication related problems.

Professional Certifications

  • NACE certifications in “Material Selection/Design Specialist” and “Senior Corrosion Technologist” will be advantageous.
  • API certifications
