Job Description

Strategic responsibilities:-

  • Contribute to the development of the organizational Data Strategy and support data management in line with strategic business objectives and FAB cultures and values.
  • Responsible for the development and oversight of data governance framework, standards, practices, policies and processes.
  • Support the development of the Data Governance function as a center of excellence committed to ingraining a data-driven decision making culture across the organization, teaming with external partners, and offering end-to-end data services across business and support groups.
  • Undertake the monitoring and analysis of latest strategic, technological, and regulatory trends within the organization and on a global scale.
  • Anticipate challenges and risks associated with the management of data as a strategic asset and promotes action that produces optimal outcomes.

People Management responsibilities:-

  • Supports the process of establishing goals and key performance indicators in alignment with the Data Governance Office and monitor these goals and indicators on periodical basis
  • Leads by example, encourages self-direction amongst other members of the team.
  • Supports the development of data management awareness and understanding across the organization.
  • Actively seeks out opportunities for collaboration across the organization for data related initiatives

Core responsibilities:-

  • Responsible for the development, and implementation of the data governance program, standards, policies, and procedures within the Business Unit and beyond.
  • Responsible for maintenance of risk data warehouse from DQ perspective.
  • Support the designing and development of the organizational data strategy components.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of data governance policies, standards and procedures.
  • Manage relationships across the business unit to define and manage data properly e.g. Business Definitions, Business Rules, etc.
  • Help DGO with design and execution of appropriate education within business unit and awareness activities that promote the importance and direction of data governance activity.
  • Promote sharing and reuse of data assets across the organization
  • Maintaining external data partnerships and relationships with external data stakeholders (regulators, vendors, SMEs etc.)
  • Manage the development and ongoing maintenance of data definitions, standards, lineage and other data governance artifacts as part of the data catalogue.

Job Context:-

  • Responsible for development and operational aspects of the organizational data governance framework and advising on strategic decisions in line with business priorities and international best practice.
  • Align with strategic priorities of the Group Risk Management in order to support business unit in meeting strategic objectives.
  • Contribute into prioritization of work related to business unit and alignment with activities on cross business unit level
  • Attend and contribute into Data Stewards community under DGO leadership with main focus on documenting current situation and resolution of issues which impacting business unit
  • Maintain Data Dictionaries related to the business unit within standardize Data Governance solution
  • Act as single contact for business unit within group Data Governance and Quality operating model
  • Contribute to resolution of Data Quality issues from business unit PoV

KPIs:-

  • Responsible for development and operational aspects of the business unit data governance framework and advising on strategic decisions in line with business priorities and international best practice.
  • Responsible for keeping all assets owned by business unit up to date and stakeholders from different business unit informed about any changes to ensure transparency across the organization
  • Responsible for definition and approval of all Data Governance and Quality assets, KPIs and goals aligned with business unit
  • Responsible for operational readiness of risk data mart to meet strategic and operational objectives.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification

  • Engineering Graduate/MBA with technical education in data related discipline

Minimum Experience

  • 7 years’ relevant experience in the banking sector with at least 5 years in similar positions of progressively increasing managerial responsibilities in the Data Governance and Quality function.
  • Should have technical knowhow to operate hands on.

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:

  • Good knowledge of Data Governance and Data Quality programs, frameworks, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience working on strategic programs and by synthesizing business requirements and priorities with existing organizational capabilities.
  • Track record of successfully delivering business value attributed to improved data management practices.

Attributes

  • A reliable and trustworthy person, able to anticipate and deal with the varying needs and concerns of numerous stakeholders adapting personal style accordingly.
  • Adaptable and knowledgeable who is able to discuss a variety of data management situations with both IT and business stakeholders.

Additional Information

The job holder is responsible for managing the development, implementation and regular maintainance of FAB Data Governance & Quality in alignment with DG&DQ Office. They are accountable for setting direction and ensuring alignment with business objectives with regards to how data is managed across the organization. The job holder is responsible for data management standards aligned with BCBS239 for Group Risk department in an operational repository and constitute/implement KPI for DQ monitoring.

The job holder is also a key member of the broader data management group across the organization and is expected to play an important role in influencing and providing direction to the wider data management community.
