Senior Communications Officer

​​Background

Turquoise Mountain is a non-profit, non-governmental organization specializing in urban regeneration, business development, and education in traditional arts and architecture. We seek to provide jobs and skills, through heritage.

Context

Turquoise Mountain is seeking to hire an experienced and passionate Senior Communications Officer. The Senior Communications Officer is responsible for overseeing Turquoise Mountain Jordan’s communications strategy and day-to-day implementation, including social media management, donor communications, media relations, and management of global communications requests related to Turquoise Mountain’s programming in Jordan. The Senior Communications Officer collaborates with various departments to cover all of Turquoise Mountain’s primary areas of work – craft and vocational training, built heritage regeneration, heritage education, and design & sales.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Planning and implementing Turquoise Mountain Jordan communications;
  • Strategy for and management of social media channels: including producing graphics, captions, and writing for Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube etc.;
  • Liaising with Turquoise Mountain Global office and managing all central requests for communications support;
  • Partnership communications management – including producing and curating regular bundles of images and creating short films;
  • Managing content production for commercial communications as well as heritage and development programming, including liaising with photographers and videographers as well as other teams within Turquoise Mountain;
  • Donor communications management – create factsheets, case-studies, brochures and other communication materials for our work as required;
  • Communications input on events, and VIP donor visits – creating digital and direct marketing content, and designing itineraries;
  • Approach and manage local and international media regarding TM’s work in Jordan
  • Any other tasks as requested by the manager.

Qualifications

  • Experience with visual content creation and management of social media channels;
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English – Arabic is a plus but not a requirement;
  • Experience crafting and managing complex a communications strategy;
  • Familiarity with both Jordanian and international audiences;
  • The ability to juggle competing priorities and produce consistent, high-quality content covering multiple different areas of work;
  • A keen eye for visuals is key, graphic design and/or photography experience a plus;
  • Marketing experience is a plus;
  • Experience working in a nonprofit/development organization or in the high-end retail space is essential – connection to and knowledge of arts and culture and/or heritage is a plus.
