Key Responsibilities
Network Design & Documentation – Document design, configuration, and policy requirements for standard customer and business needs to enable all users to maintain secure and consistent configurations.
● Design and implement new network solutions and improves the efficiency of current networks
● Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
● Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team
Network Design Implementation – Setup, configure, and install various network software and hardware routers, firewalls, access switches – core devices required to have a secure and reliable network.
● Procuring network equipment and managing subcontractors involved with network installation
● Configuring firewalls, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security
● Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
● Setup appropriate WAN and LAN internet connections to enable reliable connectivity to network designs.
● Installing, configuring and supporting network equipment including Routers, Firewall, Proxy, Switches, WAN accelerators, DNS and DHCP
● Coordinate computer network access and use according to plans
Network Maintenance – Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve network and related computer environment problems including system and application software, hardware, and configuration problems to enable long term sustainability of user experience.
● Arrange and implement scheduled upgrades
● Investigating faults in the network
● Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases
● Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
● Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
● Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
● Perform disaster recovery operations and data backups when required
● Repair and/or replace faulty network hardware components when required
Network Monitoring – Monitor network performance, master consoles and application utilization to proactively identify adjustment needs and threats to systems and networks to prevent downtime for users.
● Reporting network status to key stakeholders
● Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
● Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
Education, Experience and Required Skills
Educational Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years’ system administration experience in windows and Linux production environment;
Essential Skills
● Minimum of 3 years’ troubleshooting complex problems;
● Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
● Retain familiarity with various network types including LANs, WANs, WLANs, SANs, and VoIP networks
● Open to being on call outside of regular working hours as well as occasional nights and weekends in the office
● Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
● Ability to perform well under pressure
● Have high attention to detail
● Be a confident communicator
● Work well independently and in team setting
