Snr. Software Simulations and Controls Engineer

- Develop and implement algorithms for guidance, navigation, and controls (GNC)
- Develop GNC design architecture and technical roadmap supporting Programs
- Lead simulation/software development and manage task delegation to team members
- Develop dynamic vehicle aerodynamic, and hardware/sensor models
- Develop guidance algorithms to provide mission capability
- Design and tune controllers for vehicle stability and control
- Design, analysis, implementation, and testing of Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) algorithms for air vehicle
- Develop and maintain high-fidelity 6-DOF simulations with Matlab/Simulink
- Development concept of operations and participation in mission simulations and mission operations
- Design, analyze, and tune sequential filters (e.g. Kalman filters) for attitude determination and relative navigation
- Analyze and test the air vehicle GNC subsystem performance using simulations and other analytic tools
- Develop simulation models for sensors (e.g. accelerometer, GPS, magnetometer, ), actuators (e.g. reaction wheel, torque bar, thruster,), and system dynamics (e.g. rigid body, multi-body, orbit mechanics, flexible models)

Recruiting talented researchers, Engineers, technicians, and administrators Developing and overseeing programs and opportunities to promote professional development, with the goal of cultivating and retaining talented researchers and building internal research capacity Providing ongoing thought leadership and guidance (both technical and programmatic) to maximize the research potential of the program
Internal and External Relations
Writing major technical reports and/or scientific papers based on project research Preparing and delivering effective oral presentations of key research results to the aerospace and defense community, stakeholder groups, and other relevant forums Interfacing with and coordinating effectively with senior leadership, peers in other programs/divisions, and junior staff

- Flight Dynamics and Control Theory
- Guidance, Navigations and Controls
- Extensive experience using integrated sensor systems for guidance and/or navigation
- Extensive experience with navigation controls and aerodynamic stability
- Extensive Experience with 6-DOF simulation
- Demonstrated technical capability and problem solving in a variety of GNC disciplines
- Ability to translate technical vision, direction, tasking, and status to multi-disciplinary team
- Expertise in Matlab/Simulink with aerospace toolbox
- Expertise in C / C++
