ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

WFP Sudan is looking for a talented Partnerships Officers at CST-1 level, carrying out a broad range of partnership activities, analytical work and research. The officer selected will engage with internal stakeholders as well as governments, UN agencies, NGOs, international financial institutions, corporations and foundations. The officer will provide substantial value to WFP Sudan's effective positioning with public, private and external partners to attract policy support, resources, technical assistance and innovative solutions to advance the work of WFP while supporting member states in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Zero Hunger and emphasizing WFP's contributions in this regard.
Focusing on some of the major, new, and emerging donors, UN-based partnerships, development financing, foreign private sector and foundations, among others, the selected Partnerships Officer will undertake the below responsibilities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  • Support the implementation of a work plan for an assigned area to enable WFP to identify, develop and strengthen quality partnerships in support of WFP strategic objectives.
  • Proactively contribute to a partnerships portfolio, including partner profiling, data/trends analysis and outreach activities, with the aim to maximize resources, scope of partnerships, and leverage policy and technical support for WFP's work.
  • Propose options to managers to expand support from existing partners and to scope new partners, with the aim to enhance the impact of WFP's work and diversify the resource base.
  • Conduct analysis and draft quality briefs in support of outreach opportunities, solfeiting inputs from other WFP Sudan technical units, Regional Bureau (RB) and Headquarters on WFP's programmatie offering that can gain traction with donor audiences.
  • Gather and share socio-political insights and partner intelligence (including forecasting), using key information systems.
  • Provide inputs to partnerships strategies including the development of Partnership Action Plans
  • Draft quality, timely funding proposals and reports, register opportunities on Salesforce and ensure compliance of donor terms/conditions.
  • Ensure a consistent flow of information about donor terms/conditions for internal stakeholders by using Salesforce and Information management system, as well as participating In internal resource management meetings.
  • Contribute to the preparation of strategic agreements, joint strategies, funding agreements, and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), as well as amendments or extenskans, as required.
  • Organize and facilitate donor meetings, missions and follow-up actions, as required.
  • Support dialogue with partners through networking and information sharing in order to proactively highlight strategie issues to senior managers and propose opportunities to nurture trust and partnership growth.
  • Contribute to preparedness actions, providing technical recommendations and guidance, and monitor defined risks.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT

1) Timely, quality funding proposals and reports submitted to the donors.
2) Donor Tracking Sheet updated on a weekly basis, or as required.
3) Salesforce (forecasts) updated on a weekly basis, or as required.
4) Partnership Action Plan drafted and finalized.
5) Donor cheatsheets, meeting briefs drafted.
6) Meetings, events, and missions organized.
7) Action points from pipeline, resource management meetings completed.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Advanced University degree in Political Science, International Development, Development Economics, International Relations, Law, Fundraising, Marketing or any relevant field.

Professional Experience: Communications and/or another relevant field. Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant postgraduate professional-level work experience in partnerships, fundraising, advocacy and communications, marketing, strategy development or other related fields.
Experience building and managing partnerships, including developing proposals, soliciting input for reports, drafting agreements, producing visibility plans and/or crafting joint strategies.

Knowledge & Skills: A basic understanding of government and corporate strategies and priorities and experience in developing multi-stakeholder partnerships.
Experience working directly with governments, UN agencies, NGOs, International financial institutions, corporations and/or foundations.
Engagement with all fundraising activities, including outreach, resource strategies, proposal writing, contract negotiation, and/or in other related fields such as digital, marketing or campaign management.
Experience supporting the creation of external communications and advocacy materials and campaigns.
Has motivated team spirit and contributed to a gender balanced, inclusive and sound working environment.
Working experience in international organization/companies and/or outside of the home country.

Languages: Fluency (level C) in both spoken and written English. Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish and/or WFP's working language, Portuguese), with preference for Arabic.
