Senior Planner

Job Description

Key Accountabilities
Budget Management Inseason and Pre Season

  • Developing of a strategic merchandise budget factoring historical data along with buyer feedback in order to enhance the GP and sales margins.

  • Pre/In Season Management
  • Taking full responsibility and accountability for the productive management of quantitative allocation of inventory in order to meet sales, return on inventory investment (ROI), gross profit and gross margin budgets
  • Manage current Key Performance Indicators and identify future business opportunities
  • Analyse and evaluate external and internal data to develop initiatives that will execute the Chain Strategy.
  • Analyse and evaluate a range of historical data to develop a balanced assortment plan, based on past trends and aligned to current strategy.
  • Ensure that the assortment plans are in line with the Chain merchandise strategy
  • Initiate appropriate actions when out of line situations occur and ensuring that deliveries are affected within stipulated deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively when negotiating with suppliers/ Supply chain stakeholders so that all elements relating to quality, quantity, styling and delivery requirements are clearly understood and carried out in accordance with business requirements.
  • Identify and solve problems when monitoring current consumer demands and competitor activities so that adjustments to reduce/increase merchandise assortments are timorously affected
  • Use appropriate systems to finalise and implement agreed store plans and merchandise allocation plans
  • Analyse and evaluate past store/product performance and consider trends, supplier efficiency, lead times and store profiles when making recommendations for future buying plans
  • Prepare and monitor OTB to ensure that orders are placed timeously and according to assortment plans.
  • Prepare and propose seasonal budgets derived and validated on MPF at concept or territory level to match the financial targets set for sales, opening, or closing stocks, inflows, forward covers and sales margins etc.
  • Forecast sales based on current trends to control OTB.
  • Prepare post seasonal analysis of past performance at concept /territory levels to ensure analyze the product performance.
  • Manage in season markdowns to reduce stock levels on slow moving styles.
  • Monitor orders and ensure the merchandise is delivered on a timely basis, and in line with the service level agreements in order to ensure compliance with buying plans.

Assortment Planning

  • Carry out assortment planning to ensure balance assortment for the forth coming season.

Mark down & Promotions

  • Analyze promotions and events and communicate the performance results to the respective department to analyze sales

People Management

  • Manage the team by mentoring and coaching team members to ensure a trained workforce
