STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

First university degree in Political Science, International Development,

Development Economics, International Relations, Law, Marketing, Communications

or other Relevant Field

Experience:

  • At least three years of experience in building partnerships,

resource mobilization or marketing

  • Basic understanding of government and corporate strategies and priorities
  • Experience in developing multi-stakeholder partnerships
  • Strong writing skills, including creation of external communication and briefing materials

Knowledge & Skills:

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

Country context and response

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes. With more than 18,000 colleagues worldwide, WFP works to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.

Since 1978, WFP has actively assisted humanitarian and development interventions in Cameroon. WFP has provided lifesaving food and nutrition assistance alongside and resilience building support to refugees, internally displaced people and local communities, which has contributed to stabilizing the food security situation amongst vulnerable groups in Cameroon’s pursuit of Zero Hunger.

JOB PURPOSE

The Partnerships Associate will work under the direct supervision of the Head of Partnerships Unit and in collaboration with the other members of the partnership team, Country Office and Field Office, to achieve the goals outlined in the Country Strategic Plan’s Partnership Action Plan 2022-2026.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  1. Support the implementation of the private sector engagement strategy for the country office, expand outreach to new sector actors and facilitate the development and implementation of memorandums of understanding to expand WFP’s partnership and resource base.
  2. Provide technical support to the Head of Partnerships Unit in private sector engagement, including identification of foundations and all potential impact-based partnerships.
  3. Gather and share private sector intelligence, provide a clear understanding of the sectoral issues and the overall private sector landscape vis-à-vis WFP’s corporate approach to private sector partnerships.
  4. Proactively contribute to the Country Office’s partnership portfolio, including partner profiling, data/trends analysis and outreach activities, with the aim to maximize resources and leverage policy and technical support for WFP’s work. Ensure that WFP gives appropriate visibility during its operations to partners and that partner conditions are met.
  5. Support the preparation of briefs, donor reports, proposals, presentations, events, and data analysis on donor funding trends/issues, ensuring the deliverables adhere to corporate standards and quality control.
  6. Ensure and/or perform accurate and timely recording of relevant data related to partnerships, ensuring consistency of information presented to internal and external stakeholders.
  1. Support gathering of socio-political insights to support WFP’s effective positioning with the Government of Cameroon, and regional and international institutions with the aim to influence the policy agenda.
  2. Other duties as required by the Head of Partnerships Unit.
