Coordinate and monitor the execution of all work request related to in house Welding activities for fabrication of Rigs and related equipment/accessories.

Identify WPS as per the material & production requirements and assign welders & welding equipment accordingly.

Ensure welding electrodes are used as per WPS.

Monitor welding activities and ensure WPS are displayed clearly in welding area so welders can follow parameters as per WPS.

Ensure weld stamps are engraved/marked for all identified critical joints.

Optimize use of manpower for higher productivity.

Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant welding skills, safe working conditions, necessary tools and equipment to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the section objectives.

Ensure availability of proper welding equipment, materials and consumables for all the activities and follow approved methods of statements.

Provide support and direction for good manufacturing, housekeeping and safety standards.

Perform weld visual and ensure NDT checks on fabricated items/assembly.

Evaluate welder performance and monitor defect rate. Arrange trainings to reduce the defect rates.

Recommends and initiates improvements to production processes, to increase manufacturing efficiency.

Establishes and monitors cost control systems to achieve department budget objectives. Reduce waste.

Develop and implement appropriate welding techniques to ensure accuracy, productivity and level of product standards are met.

Ensure manhours are accurately captured on respective jobs using Kronos/Oracle.

Knowledge of HSE procedures & practices and comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards and best practices.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Shall have sound technical knowledge in materials, welding & gouging, NDE inspection and general construction activities. Shall have experience of working to and fully familiar with codes and standards such as from ANSI, ASME, ASTM, API and BS codes used in oil and gas industries.

Read and interpret weld process according to AWS and ASME section IX.

Proficient in structural/vessel fitting, Mig/Fluxcore/Tig/Subarc/SMAW welding, burners, and similar equipment.

Experience in managing welders for heavy structures, piping, pressure vessels and other equipment.

Having good knowledge of fabrication processes and principles (Welding, cutting, pressing, gas/plasma cutting works, fit up work etc.).

Expertise knowledge in tools required for welding and working knowledge of ASME, AWS & API Codes.

Solid blueprint interpretation skills and well versed with engineering drawings of mast and substructure, mud systems, pressure vessels, piping, process & structural.

Excellent communications and inter-personal/leadership skills are essential.

Proven track record of result deliveries in challenging project environments.

10+ years’ experience in fabrication and/or welding of heavy structures and equipment.

Fabrication experience of Land Rigs and Derricks preferred.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in supervisory role in welding environment.

Computer literate with experience using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) & Kronos/Oracle will be added advantage.

Education: High School / ITI diploma.

Demonstrates ability to supervise diverse work groups in a team environment using effective listening, coaching, training, investigative and problem-solving skills
