Summary
The Commercial Engineer is initially responsible to develop a Supply Chain & Logistics Commercial Costing & Pricing Model / Processor (“Tijari”).
Based on the designed solutions, you will be working closely with Business Development, Finance, Procurement, Network Design, HR, and SC&L Operations to develop accurate costings and pricing proposals for SC&L customers (Sectors, Regions, Tenants, and other customers).
You will be a critical contributor working collaboratively across the organization and with our customer base, driving new business and developing new commercial opportunities.
Lead the development of a comprehensive SC&L Tijari Model/Tool, from inception to implementation in alignment with all stakeholders (SC&L: Network Design, Operations and Customer Solutions; Functions: HR, Finance, IT; NEOM: Sectors, Regions, …; 3rd Party customers)
- Define the requirements of the SC&L Tijari Model/Tool
- Identify the structure and components of a SC&L Tijari covering all standard SC&L Product & Service offerings
- Obtain, develop, and maintain a “Base Cost” Catalogue (Base costs, unit costs, assets,
- Obtain, develop, and maintain Productivity Ratios and other Variables and Constants supporting all potential scenarios
- Develop Total Cost calculations to support the Business Development sales process
- Develop Commercial Pricing recommendations based on our competitive position, profit expectations and value-add offered to the customer
- Support NEOM SC&L strategic business development programs and growth initiatives (Execution)
- Ensure and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders within business divisions and wider NEOM organization (Alignment)
- Engage with customer representatives (Engagement)
Responsibilities
Develop and Maintain a Supply Chain & Logistics Costing & Pricing Processor (“Tijari”)
- Develop:
- Define Core Services to be included in the Tijari tool
- Work-Breakdown analysis of each service component
- Develop execution scenarios (e.g. Manual vs. Automated, Storage vs Throughput…)
- Develop Structure and define required variables of the Tijari
- Develop Activity steps to the lowest granularity
- Develop a Cost Catalogue / Tariffs
- Develop a Tariff builder
- Identify Productivities
- Develop Benchmarks
- Integrate commercialization strategies
- Integrate accounting rules
- Integrate Implementation and Roll-out calculator
- Develop Sensitivity Analysis calculator
- Develop algorithms to provide the following outputs:
- Base costs (Summary, Breakdown per area / component, Ratios)
- Profit & Loss Statements
- Key Financial Figures
- Investment & Funding
- Leases
- Maintain:
- Maintain Base Cost Catalogue up to date
- Continuously improve functionality and user friendliness
- Expand functionalities
- Data Management
Developing and Recommending Commercial Proposals (Costing, Pricing, Positioning)
- Develop costings for business opportunities in close cooperation with Solutions Design
- Challenge costs, efficiencies etc. and maximize cost-efficiencies for each business opportunity
- Develop pricing models based on value propositions, commercialization strategy and competitive position
- Recommend and justify Pricing Proposals to Business Development Management for submission to SC&L Final Proposal approval
Working across the Stakeholders and Engaging with Customers & Neom sectors & Regions
- Work closely together with Network Design, Solutions Design and Operations
- Actively engage with customer representatives through workshops and conferences
- Consult SC&L Management and seek & give guidance
- Build and grow close relationships with BU senior management and sector experts to ensure consistent commercial strategy across Neom SC&L
- Build and grow relationships with all relevant internal stakeholders
- Foster exchange of best practices within and across BU/ sectors, i.e. within SC&L and wider Neom
- Actively participate in Customer meetings
Commercial Engineering (cost improvements, margin improvements…)
- Challenge status-quo on matters influencing costing and pricing
- Identify and propose ways to improve our competitive position from both a cost perspective as a commercialization perspective
Qualifications
- 15+ years Supply Chain Services & Solution design experience across multiple customer sectors, e.g. Manufacturing, Retail, Pharma, and across multiple services, e.g. Warehousing, Value-Added Services, Distribution, Reverse Logistics, Freight Forwarding, etc.
- 15+ years of professional experience across multiple geographies in management, solutions design, business development, commercial engineering
- Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Logistics, International Business Management, Economy or other numerate discipline
- Experience in at least 2 fields desirable (Contract Logistics, Forwarding, Last Mile, Mail & Courier)
- Experience in engaging with (virtual) teams and multiple workstreams concurrently
- Global understanding of sector market dynamics, logistics issues and trends
- Deep knowledge of all 3PL/4PL business models
- Understanding of overall Supply Chain Network design and Control Tower orchestration
- Very strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong conceptual thinking and analytical skills
- Planning & organizing skills
- Excellent stakeholder relationship skills
- Excellent communication & presentation skills
- Ability to report and respond at senior level
- Commercial / Marketing acumen
- Experience in product R&D and innovation desirable
- Fluent English language skills required
- Hands-on mentality
