BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate. WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters, and the impact of climate change. The Innovation and Knowledge Management Division was set up in 2015 to manage change and promote innovation within the organization. The team is working directly with WFP’s leadership to drive corporate priority projects and strengthen Knowledge Management across the organization, sharing knowledge across geographic and technical areas.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent, reporting to the INK Knowledge Management (KM) lead, is expected to:

Strengthening KM within WFP

Design, develop, and manage corporate, strategic initiatives and practical activities to strengthen KM across WFP in line with WFP’s Corporate Knowledge Management Strategy.

Develop KM guidance, tools, templates for the corporate KM Toolkit and support the adoption and adaption among technical divisions and regional bureaus.

Strengthen WFP’s global network of Knowledge Management focal points in advancing WFP’s KM agenda at the global and regional level.

Co-chair Knowledge Management Working Groups, facilitating active engagement of membership and overseeing the implementation of a KM work plan.

Establish partnerships and strengthen relationships among the generators of WFP’s knowledge, including staff who work in monitoring, evaluation, assessments, reporting to identify important points of collaboration to collectively advance KM.

Collaborate cross-functionally ensuring an aligned and consistent corporate approach to the understanding and implementation of knowledge management within WFP.

Initiate KM advocacy and communication initiatives to increase awareness of KM and the importance and impact of INK’s and KM Working Groups’ initiatives.

Identify critical KM gaps and challenges to devise solutions to be implemented.

Identify innovative KM approaches and good practice to be scaled.

Learning and Capacity Development:
-
Develop corporate Knowledge Management Learning Strategy and Action Plan containing initiatives to strengthen the capacity of technical divisions, regional bureaus, and country offices in the implementation of KM.

Organize and facilitate virtual, face-to-face, and blended trainings on Knowledge Management to build the capacity of WFP’s Knowledge Management Focal Points.

Establish a global approach to mentorship and coaching among WFP’s Knowledge Management Focal Points to enable high performance.

Establish and maintain WFP’s Knowledge Management WeLearn Channel

Establishing Impact of Knowledge Management

Help strengthen INK’s KM M&E Framework to measure the impact, efficiency gain, and value-added of KM activities.
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:

Ensure that all work and materials developed during the contract are well documented and available to the WFP team.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: |
Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree a plus. |
Experience: |
At least 6 years of progressively responsible national and/or international experience in knowledge management, information management, project management, partnerships, communications, and/or business-related positions. |
Knowledge & Skills: |

Languages: |
Fluency in oral and written English mandatory. Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese (one of WFP’s working languages) is a plus. |
