Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Design Manager to join our team! In this role, you will get tomanage the design of major infrastructure projects coordinating between design team members and project client and stakeholders.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead and guide design strategies and overall projects approaches to ensure Client's objectives are achieved and Client's expectations are consistently met.
- Manage scope development and the tendering process for procurement of sub-consultants and/or third-party reviewers.
- Provide direction and management on design aspects as related to infrastructure design projects (roads, bridges, tunnels, utilities, landscape, etc.).
- Devise in coordination with the Project Manager, design management and design delivery strategy to ensure technical excellence and on-schedule completion of design activities.
- Provide technical input, solutions and expertise as require.
- Promote technical excellence on the project through application of quality assurance processes, ensuring quality objectives applied to each project are consistently met.
- Prepare, execute, monitor and controls the projects design management plans.
- Maintain overall knowledge of drawings, specifications, general contracts and time schedules.
- Express awareness of the local authorities requirements, processes and procedures, the required documentation to obtain authorities approvals and the required level of details for the design documentation.
- Provide high level liaison with Clients and Client's representatives on design progress.
- Establish and chair meetings and design workshops as required to review project status and formulate action items.
- Manage the delivery of the design by the various disciplines by ensuring consistency in designs produced with respect to adherence to the overall vision, concept design, design criteria, required standards and Client's expectations.
- Coordinate and manage activities of sub-consultants for delivery of projects.
- Liaise with Discipline Leads, internal and external team members including designers, specialist designers, engineering disciplines, quantity surveyors, etc. to ensure a fully coordinated design between all disciplines.
- Works with Program Director, Project Manager and Disciplines Leads to develop budgets, schedules, and plans for the various elements of a project.
- Ability to mentor and lead subordinates and young engineers to improve their performance and develop their career.
- Monitor the quality and progress of the disciplines in projects, ensuring that production requirements are satisfied.
- Work closely with Project Managers to resolve any existing or forecasted problems related to discipline staffing, quality of work, schedule performance, or productivity.
- Participate in the value engineering and manages value engineering studies, constructability reviews and other workshops.
- Ensure the compliance with Safety Audit Requirements including Safety in Design, Safety in Construction, etc. carried out at the Design Stage
- Work with Project Manger to identify potential design risks and works to identify mitigation measures for implementation.
- Review and/or establishes standards and procedures for the various disciplines. Recommends improvements to existing procedures.
- Actively participates in and promotes the Quality Improvement Program.
- Document lessons learned for continuous improvements of design processes and procedures.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution
- Minimum 15 years experience in design of infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, tunnels, utilities and landscape
- Ability to manage and coordinate the design of major projects
- Broad general engineering background and previous supervisory experience in a project engineering role
- Excellent and comprehensive knowledge of infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, tunnels, utilities, landscape, etc.).
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Prior experience working on projects within the UAE/GCC
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
- Prior project management experience/certification
- Good communication skills, fluency in oral and written Arabic
