What will you do?

The Programme Policy Officer will work under the direct supervision of the School Feeding Consultant and overall supervision of Head of Nutrition and School Feeding Unit.
The incumbent will be responsible for the below duties:

Contribute towards the development and quality improvement of the School Health and Nutrition programme and processes, ensuring alignment with wider WFP and national programme policies.

Provide project management support to homegrown school feeding programme (HGSFP) in close coordination with the government, key stakeholders and partners ensuring complementarity to the multiple components of the HGSFP.

Contribute to the development and coordination of data gathering and monitoring systems ensuring that detailed quality standards are maintained.

Review and analyze a range of policy and operational issues to advise the development of policies, programmes, guidelines, and activities.

Contribute to preparing accurate and timely reporting on programmes and activities that enable informed decision-making and consistency of information presented to partners.

Collaborate closely with internal WFP units and external counterparts to ensure effective collaboration and implementation and highlight potential risks to project delivery.

Represent WFP at national and sub-national meetings to contribute to technical discussions, exchange experiences, advocate for school feeding and integrated school-based health and nutrition interventions and identify areas of potential collaborations.

Support the capacity strengthening of WFP staff, partners and national government specifically Education Ministries for the implementation and scale out of the school feeding programme.

Support the development of donor proposals and reports.

Perform any other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Advanced University degree in Education, International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, or other field relevant to international development assistance, or First University Degree in the above fields with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses

Knowledge and experience: One year or more years of progressively responsible professional experience in Programme operations especially in the field of School Feeding. Good knowledge and working experience with the government or various sectors especially WFP or Education agencies will be an added advantage. Good advocacy and networking skills will be an added advantage

Language: Proficiency in both oral and written communication in English and Somali is a requirement.

Are you competent for this job? Do you have

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Understanding of donor policies, strategies and programme policies.
  • Proficient knowledge and skills in data management analysis.

Terms and Conditions:
