1. PROJECT BACKGROUND
The Municipal Support Program (MSP) is a five-year, USAID-funded program implemented by DAI. MSP aims to strengthen municipal-sector service delivery and promote local economic development in Jordan. MSP will strengthen municipal-sector service delivery by supporting improved governance and organizational culture through a focus on three interventions: key policy and service delivery reforms, municipal sector public financial management, and community engagement. Improved municipal service delivery will ensure that municipalities can respond effectively to citizens’ needs and create the conditions for investment and inclusive economic growth. MSP will also increase capital investment in the municipal sector. This investment is intended to catalyze local economic opportunities and further strengthen service delivery by supporting improved development planning, facilitating investor partnerships, increasing access to finance, and supporting renovation and construction of fixed assets including the provision of material resources. Across all interventions, MSP will increase the participation of marginalized groups, including women, youth, and persons with disabilities in municipal-sector decision-making. Participatory planning will improve marginalized groups’ access to public services and increase their economic opportunities. MSP will work across all of Jordan’s governates.
2. POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Communications Specialist will act as the project’s focal point in terms of internal communication between the projects’ departments and externally, with USAID, beneficiaries, and the media. S/he will support the MEL and Communications Lead in the development and implementation of communications various platforms, including the communications strategy for MSP. This position reports to the MEL and Communications Lead.
3. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in the development of the MSP communications strategy.

Assist in the development of digital/social media campaigns.

Help manage the MSP website and social media accounts, including drafting of social media posts.

Contribute to and edit MSP fact sheets, brochures, success stories, infographics and other materials.

Interview MSP beneficiaries and write success stories.

Manage/oversee technical aspects of subcontracting for production of communications materials in all mediums.

Translate key communication documents into Arabic or English, as needed.

Ensure that the project’s activities, events, and trainings are properly photographed, organized and well maintained.

Manage MSP’s photo library and consent form documentation.

Support the MEL and Communications lead in preparing, writing and editing donor quarterly and annual reports.

Assist in the design and delivery of staff and partner trainings on communications and marketing.

Participate in trainings and other capacity building activities organized in collaboration with the MEL and Communications Lead.
4. QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.

At least 4 years of experience in strategic communications, advertising, event planning, media, or logistics and marketing campaign management for local, regional and international businesses or projects.

Experience creating social media content and solid understanding of social media analytics (Twitter, Facebook).

Experience conducting interviews and writing success stories that showcase project milestones.

Experience writing reports and producing visual presentations.

Excellent computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Fluent in Arabic and English.
