- Background
The Jordanian National Commission for Women (JNCW) was established as a national machinery to promote women’s status in Jordan in accordance with the cabinet’s decision no 21/11/3382 in 1992. Chaired by HRH Princess Basma bint Talal, the Commission’s board includes representation of relevant ministers, civil society organizations and the private sector. JNCW seeks to ensure that Jordan complies with its national, Arab and international commitments, which aim at improving women’s status and their participation in sustainable development.
The project components are in line with the objectives and priorities of the National Strategy for Women in Jordan 2020-2025, specifically strategic goal 2 – Women and girls enjoy a life free of all forms of violence – that focuses on addressing violence against women and harmful practices.
The project is implemented under a grant agreement funded by UNFPA. The outcomes of the project briefed in following:
O1: A study to estimate the economic cost of violence against women in Jordan, this includes analyses of the costs of violence
O2: Follow with the United Nations Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA) to benefit from its regional project on estimating the cost of violence against women utilizing their cost methodology.
- Core responsibilities
- Follow the project plan activities follow the budget expenditures to ensure effective use of resources against planned activities and expected outputs.
- Prepare drafts of narrative reports related to the project activities, including reports on progress and final reports.
- Maintain productive working relationships with project stakeholders (national and regional) and team members to ensure the smooth implementation, cooperation and support of the project.
- Follow up the signed contracts and partners agreements in accordance to JNCW regulations and keep follow with outsources contracts to ensure quality deliverables.
The position will report directly to the Head of Policies and Monitoring Unit and other key technical staff at JNCW, and donor organization.
- Professional qualifications:
- University degree in Law or administration or human rights studies.
- More than 4 years professional experience in projects implementation at national institutions, and non-profit local or international organizations, more preferable projects funded by any UN agencies.
- Has the knowledge in project management in details such as logistics, preparing contracts, TORs, writing reports and success stories and interacting/negotiating with stakeholders; in both languages English and Arabic.
- Ability to work under pressure, often with tight deadlines without compromising the quality of deliverables.
- Substantive knowledge on topics related to gender equality, women’s empowerment and business development and operations.
- Assist with the implementation of finance and accounting, records management, communications, feedback, monitoring and evaluation frameworks are effectively established to facilitate project start up and to support the project to completion.
- Following up with all relevant procurement procedures & documents.
- Perform any other related duties.
- Other technical requirements:
- A sound understanding of gender and gender-based violence in Jordan context, as well as a good understanding of the stakeholder landscape engaged in GBV is preferred
- Fluent spoken and written Arabic and English
