Data Governance Officer
Job Description
Job Purpose:
The role of Governance Officer is to support data management and governance activities by validating and improving definitions of data assets and metadata.
A day in the life of the Governance Officer
- Close cooperation with IT and data engineering lead collaborating on data projects
- Developing and maintaining dataset, transforming raw data into useful data systems.
- Working closely with the Data office project manager(s) to support data initiatives
- Collaborate with data scientists and architects on several projects
Job Accountabilities:
Business Specifics
- Work closely with the data engineering team and IT infrastructure and database teams to process tasks related to data pipelines projects
- Coordinate with IT and Transformation teams on new products and datasets to be accounted for in data warehouse
- Extract and transform data utilizing tools and platforms for data quality reviews
- Build data systems and pipelines based on business needs and objectives
- Prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modeling
- Build algorithms and prototypes to combine raw information from different sources
- Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability and identify opportunities for data acquisition
- Collaborate with data scientists and architects to support data initiatives and make data available for analysis
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the bank to document meta data including validating definitions and metadata attributes
- Research and document data validation rules and common errors.
- Prepare data quality reports and help data owners create their reports
- Manage dashboards for data quality and author regular updates
- Work with vendors and learn new tools that bank acquires

- Use Project Management tools to update project tasks and deliverables
- Exhibit good communication and collaboration skills
- Get familiar with bank operations and data practices
- Ensure compliance with all CBK, GB operational procedures
Degree/Diploma Obtained:
- Management Information Systems
- Computer science
- Engineering
Knowledge: Basic knowledge of data reporting tools, SQL General knowledge of data concepts
Experience: 0-2 years of relevant experience, familiarity with bank operations
