Job Description

College/Department Profile
The Office of Strategic Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Economic Development (SIEED) has been established in Fall 2021 in the QU President Office to initiate, manage, execute, and/or coordinate developments of the President Office innovation and transformation cross-strategies and initiatives (e.g. Innovation & Entrepreneurship strategy, Digital Transformation Strategy, etc.) among other strategic innovation and transformation duties and functions. The SIEED Office is also particularly focused on design, management, and execution on the evolution of holistic and mature QU Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Economic Development Ecosystem across all QU sectors and emerging companies and ventures in integrated manner with the National Innovation & Economic Development ecosystem. This particular focus is in the process of realizing QU new vision aiming at positioning Qatar University as a .. Catalyst for Sustainable Socio-Economic Development of Qatar and is closely integrating with state transformation efforts into Innovation & Knowledge Based Economy (iKBE) as envisioned in Qatar National Vision 2030, the National Development Strategies, and Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation (QRDI) 2030 Strategy.
Duties & Responsibilities
1.Provide product innovation and development customer advisory and technical service for advancing prototypes and technologies of faculty, researchers, students, and/or entrepreneurs in process and life-cycle of technology commercialization or technology startups developments
2.Collaborate cross-functionally to drive the Customer to Concept process bringing new products to market.
3.Oversee and/or advise the identification, development, and production of new customer-driven products out of QU faculty, researchers, and students projects and creative and intellectual outputs
4.Develop periodic strategic customer-centric product discovery analysis in particular thematic areas and feed into QU innovation, entrepreneurship and commercialization ecosystem stakeholders
5.Create and manage the new product development pipeline portfolio and devise cascading the portfolio down across QU education, research, and innovation ecosystem (e.g. in senior design projects, proposed research projects, research labs projects, etc.)
6.Supervise or co-supervise senior design graduation projects working on commercially viable product innovation and development graduation projects
7.Lead the design and implementation of product innovation and development competitions
8.Facilitate product innovation and development workshops and training programs for faculty, researchers, and students in areas including, but not limited to: making, tinkering, innovation, problem based learning, design thinking, industrial product design, and rapid prototyping
9.Manage dedicated product innovation and development maker spaces and facilities
10.Develop, implement, and manage a dynamic inventory, digital platforms, and operating models for complementing and integrating product innovation and development ecosystem components internally and externally
11.Overseeing a cohort of student makerspace apprentices and facilitating their role as leaders in the space
12.Create and maintain a public repository of product innovation and development tutorials
13.Assist in design and delivery of product innovation and development curricular components and digital learning modules in relevant innovation and entrepreneurship education venues in QU education ecosystem
14.Assist in developing proposals for funds attainment for scaling up product innovation and development programs and facilities for expansion of support of QU innovation ecosystem technology commercialization and emerging startups
15.Follow Environmental, Quality, and Safety Management System procedures and requirements.
16.Any other duties as assigned by direct line manager.
