Job Title: School Principal

Reporting to: Chairman and CEO

Job Summary

On behalf of our client, we are looking for a Principal to lead a private international British school in Doha, one who will bring an ambitious, inclusive vision for the school, ensuring high-quality education and support for all students.

You will harness all that is great but also develop the areas that need further improvement. You will be ready to take on not just the role of principal, but to contribute to the overall long-term strategy and growth.

You will establish a culture that promotes excellence, equity and high expectations for all pupils. You will have the experience, expertise and commitment to secure high performance across all aspects of provision.

Job Package

Annual package starting from $110,000.00 inclusive of:

  • Salary
  • Housing
  • Utilities
  • Vehicle

In addition, the school will provide:

  • Free education for the first two children (at the academy only)
  • Annual return fair to country of origin
  • 30 calendar days paid leave + official holidays

Candidate Preference

We welcome all applications including existing principals or vice-principals looking for their first headship and have strong induction and development support in place although, preference is given to the following candidates who:

  • Are based in Qatar
  • British English as a their first language
  • Have held a similar position at a British curriculum school (ideally within the United Kingdom or GCC)

Job Description

The core purpose of the Principal is to provide professional leadership and management. Your will be responsible for establishing high quality education by effectively managing teaching and learning to maximize and realize the potential of all students. The Principal must establish a culture that promotes excellence, equality and high expectations of all staff and students.

The position entails evaluating the schools’ performance to identify areas for continuous improvement; raising standards; ensuring equality of opportunity for all; developing policies and practices in conjunction with the Board of Directors; ensuring that resources are efficiently and effectively used to achieve the schools’ aims and objectives; the day to day management, organization and administration of the school.

Duties and responsibilities as Schools Principal include, but are not limited to, the following:

Organizational Leadership

  • Develop organizational goals and objectives consistent with the vision, mission and values.
  • Oversee the recruitment and hiring of diverse, highly-qualified staff.
  • Lead teachers and staff in developing a healthy school culture
  • Create an ethos within which all staff are motivated and are supported with self-development
  • Foster a school climate that supports student and staff success
  • Ensure compliance with all requirements as set by the Ministry of Education in Qatar.
  • Manage student enrollment processes to support targeted enrollment projections and to sustain healthy growth.
  • Ensure appropriate standards of student behavior, performance, and attendance.

Instructional Leadership

  • Lead the school’s vision, mission, and strategic goals to support college-readiness and academic and socioemotional success for all students.
  • Strengthen teacher and staff capacity to cultivate and sustain meaningful partnerships with families of diverse backgrounds and with community members that support student achievement and student well-being.
  • Analyze student achievement results to identify areas of need and implement improvement efforts.
  • Apply teacher and staff performance management systems in a way that ensures a culture of continuous improvement, support, and accountability.
  • Distribute leadership throughout the school, forging teams of colleagues who have distinct roles and responsibilities and hold each other to account for their decision-making.
  • Strive to obtain international and local accreditations ensuring the school meets the guidelines of all required accreditors.
  • Ensure that the schools’ systems and processes are efficient and fit for purpose, upholding the principles of transparency and integrity.
  • Oversee the establishment of rigorous, fair and transparent systems and measures for managing the performance of all staff, addressing any under-performance.
  • Oversee the smooth running of operations in the school.
  • Perform any duties that are within the scope of employment and certifications, as assigned by the Board and not otherwise prohibited by law or in conflict with contract.

Community Relations

  • Create an outward-facing school, which works with other schools and organizations – in a climate of mutual challenge – to champion best practice and secure improved academic & social achievements for all students.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, seeking their support and advice, so as to create a cooperative relationship to support students & staff.
  • Attend any required Board meetings and extra school sponsored functions such as Graduation & parent-teacher conferences.
