Summary
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
1. Provides patient care management (diagnose, treatment and prevention) to patient under the consultant supervision in accordance with standards of medical care lay down by Hospital.
2. Shares on-call schedule as per requirements and as assigned per the Head Section. Provides on-call coverage while other staff on leave.During the on-call time, supervises the residents and approves all admission after discussing with the Consultant on call.
3. Provides all the possible help assistance in the OR to the Consultant.
4. Assumes responsibility for patients under his/her care. Liaises with various support services departments and medical specializations to provide appropriate and timely medical care, in accordance with the standards laid down by the hospital.
5. Complies with all hospital standards and policies pertaining to acceptance, eligibility, admission process, consultation, daily patient care, operating room, outpatient practice, and, patient discharge.
6. Implement early patient discharge. Preparing summaries and operative notes on time. Accurately, records the morbidity and mortality events.
7.Conducts ward rounds as per policy and reassesses inpatients under care.Documents findings in medical records. Endures appropriate patients preparation for procedures/surgery and get well informed signed consent for the procedure.
8. Attends speciality, subspecialty, and outpatient clinics. Day surgical units, day medical units, special procedures, treatment areas with the Consultant.
9. Performs all other clinical/related responsibilities, as assigned.
II. ACADEMIC RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Supervise and teach junior staff on patient management, especially in the field of General and Oncology Surgery.
2. Guides and actively participates in the training of Residents, Fellows, Assistant Consultant and Junior Staff.
3. Keeps up with the latest techniques and developments, especially in the field of General and Oncology Surgery.
4. Actives participate in the regular academic/educational activities and training programs of the Department and the section.
5. Participates in the section's regular teaching seminars for fellows and residents as well as journal clubs.
III. ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Undertakes the administrative duties assigned by Head Section or Chairman of the Department.
2. Participates in all mandatory departmental activities and serves on department and hospital committees, as required.
3. Assists the department in the development and implementation of techniques and practices that help maximize the utilization of all resources within the department and access the hospital.
4. Abides by the current hospital and medical staff bylaws, all relevant rules, regulations and policies and keeps updates of any changes that might occur.
5. Participates in self & Hospital's quality improvement plan preferred.
6. Follows all hospital related policies and procedures.
7. Participates in self & other's education, training and development, as applicable.Education
Experience Required
Board certified in Surgery from North America, Europe or equivalent.Minimum of two (2) years experience in the subspecialty is required. Other Requirements(Certificates)
. Obtain certification as determined by the appropriate certifying authorities in the country where the candidates has had his training.
