IMC is looking for a Senior Psychiatrist to oversees the specialized psychiatrist consultation provided though our Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) services, Senior psychiatrist are requested to full fill the following competences:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Psychiatric Technical Support:
- The Senior Psychiatrist will attend and support in the clinical case conferences at least once per month, or as needed, with the mental health team for technical support.
- Ensure the primary Psychiatrists will strictly comply with the professional ethics and principles as well as clinical standards of mental health practice under Jordanian and International Standards established by WHO and MoH.
- Back stopping Psychiatrists in psychiatric consultation, senior psychiatrist is expected to provide clinical advice raised by the primary psychiatrists.
- Provides clinical leadership through developing guidelines and undertaking clinical reviews, audits and investigations
- Assist in the facilitation of psychiatric inpatient admissions as a last resort when clinically indicated.
- Ensure the psychiatric consultation provided in the different locations are adhered to diagnosis and treatment regiments are consistent with ICD 10 and DSM-V criteria.
- Senior psychiatrist is request to provide advice in collaboration with Clinical pharmacist at Technical Unit level any exceptional psychotropic medication/s requested by the primary psychiatrist in the different locations per the request of MHPSS coordinator.
- When indicated, the senior psychiatrist will provide temporary clinic coverage in IMC locations.
- Apply client-focused approach and bio-psychosocial model oriented while provides services with a multidisciplinary team through the case management model.
Psychiatric Supervision:
- Build and implement comprehensive psychiatric supervision mechanism for IMC`s psychiatrists in different locations.
- Conduct supervisory visits at least once per month per each clinic upon request from MHPSS Coordinator to support the IMC`s psychiatrist to provide clear, concrete and measurable goals and objectives for each patient served and ensure proper and accurate recording of prescription and dispensing of drugs in the psychiatric log book, the daily psychotropic dispensing record and in individual drug stock cards for each clinic session.
- Advise the MHPSS Coordinator of any disruption or change in provision of psychiatric services and care.
- Provide detailed report on the on-job supervision visit and recommendations
Capacity Building:
- Assess IMC psychiatrists training needs though frequent discussion and based on the supervision notes and clients’ concerns and conduct training sessions as needed.
- Provide bi-monthly refresher training to primary psychiatrists in regards of psychopharmacology and the how to handle the IMC`s Essential Drug list (EDL).
- Contribute to the ongoing training and continuing education of case management team.
- Provide an on boarding session for the newly appointed psychiatrist in collaboration with the MHPSS Coordinator.
